Is that an answer? if so not treebeard.
Didin't know about the hut when I went there, have since read about it, very interesting story, apparently the dudes that built it are still around, I think?
Had a funny name, cardboard castle or something, will check it out next time on Bruny.
Did you take your photo while skyping off during a postie run?
Wed 23 Dec, 2009 4:46 pm
HAha no but I did climb mangana while "working" that was cool.... Went diving one holiday, my sister in law has our little boy on her back... we waded around the shore in waist deep water, he was freaking out!!
The cardboard goblet the hut is called, it's really cool!! Rumour has it they carried the pot belly oven in over the hills... BUGGER THAT!!!
Ok not treebeard, is it named after a crappy 80's glam metal band TWISTED SISTER???
Wed 23 Dec, 2009 5:22 pm
Not Twisted Sister, my brother was right into them
It has rather religious connotations.
Mangana was an interesting walk for me, a Currowong followed my most of the way up and back again, and the whole forest smelt of honey, gorgeous! The views from the top aren't though, i.e. what views?
Why aren't you out bagging peaks, too hot for you?
Wed 23 Dec, 2009 5:28 pm
Hehe nah not too hot, had to work today, so I went out yesterday and did Cullen then the Tyenna/Florentine circuit. Got very very wet... spending the afternoon looking after my little boy and drying my boots out...
Into the Eastern Arthurs next week so I want to take it easy in the lead up to that.....
Hmmm Not twisted sister, I presume its one of the ones in the Styx then maybe.. now what were they called....
Wed 23 Dec, 2009 5:39 pm
OK it's in the Styx - not on the FT propaganda trail though.
Weather looks good after xmas, when are you leaving for EA?
Wed 23 Dec, 2009 5:42 pm
Leaving on the 29th, Got the yoyo track to look forward to.... yay
Wed 23 Dec, 2009 5:52 pm
Don't know about yoyo's, what day is FP summit day?
Only one front approaching during the next 8 days post xmas, lookin' good so far.
Wed 23 Dec, 2009 6:26 pm
The yoyo track is described in Ken Collins book SW TAS.... it is a soul destroying track of many ascends and descends. the Route is not recommended....... justr LOTS of up and down.. and lots of going over and under fallen trees from what I hear.... Day1 leave midday do some of the YOYO. Day2 finish YOYO and climb range, Day3 bag some of the peaks on the way... Day4 bag the big Fed!!! then camp under Hopetoun. Day5 try and bad Hopetoun day6 out...... So I guess we summit Fed on the 1st on Jan!! NICE!!
What day is the front meant to be coming thru??

No worries, will watch the weather maps with interest, and wait for pics.
Best of luck, sbs

Very nice, I'm so jealous! Hopetoun is interesting, with I don't know how many false summits. I don't think we made it to the proper one.

Looks a lot like this tree

called Chapel Tree. If I'm right, that one was easy with a bit of help from Google. Where is it sbs?
I still don't have any photos that I can find to post, must look out some ancient ones.

Spot on - it's in the Styx valley, maps available from TWS, FT don't like people going there - they lost that battle.
She's 85m high - 500yo and holds 16 adults inside comfortably.
Anyone can go next.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
Thu 24 Dec, 2009 6:47 pm
Here's one to keep things going on Christmas eve...
An early hint - it's taken from a very popular and very well known location.
And a lot of zoom.
Thu 24 Dec, 2009 8:29 pm
Well I'm thinking (based on your clues Adam) that the pic is taken from Cradle Mountain looking at King David's Peak (Walls of Jerusalem)
Thu 24 Dec, 2009 8:38 pm
Not Cradle, but one could say the first steep bit has been accomplished (big clues because it is unlikely I will be available on Christmas Day to answer guesses)

Marion's look-out?

Yay! Well done that man...
Go Phil!

Thanks adam.
I'll go with this one......not sure how soon I'll be back on-line though!
Merry Christmas everyone!

Total guess but it looks a bit like the view from near Lady Lake just before you descend the track down to the parking area. If I'm right anyone else can have a turn, I'm in the middle of packing to go away tomorrow.

Hi John
No not Lady Lake, but you're certainly in the right 'area' of the state.
Enjoy your time away

. A final guess before I disappear for a week. Somewhere on Mt Roland? Doesn't look like the view from Roland summit though. Mt Van Dyke? If I'm correct anyone else can have a go.

Spot on John, Mt Van Dyke it is, looking east towards Quamby Bluff.
As John said........anyone can post

I have not checked, but I suspect this might be on the Mt Weld ridge looking south.
He went there and put up some photos this year.
Edit - Scratch all that - just checked his photos and not right.
Now I can make out Mt Bobs and the Southern Pictons along the backdrop - so where would that put him?

Acting as Proxy (rather ironically), I can say you are in the right area of the state...
Wed 30 Dec, 2009 9:23 am
I know he's in the Eastern Arthurs now, so clues will not present themselves, summiting FP new years day the lucky bugger.
I assume there is a proxy out there?
Just a guess, Adamsons Peak?
WOW, Adam were you reading my mind...that's scary
Wed 30 Dec, 2009 6:38 pm
Adamsons it is, so away you go! (My "ironic" clue)
Adam.
Wed 30 Dec, 2009 7:33 pm
Irony, straight over my head, thought I recognised 'The Calf'
Here's an easier one
