TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Tent Survey

The Autumn edition of Wild magazine has quite a good survey of lightweight tents by John Chapman.

The survey lists such things as room, access, cost, weight, and value as well as much other usefull stuff

The thing I don't like about the survey is that there are only two 4 season tunnel tents - the 1st / 2nd arrow (forget which) and I think the Minaret (It's downstairs & I'm lazy).

Apart from the Tempest, which puts me off due to condensation issues as it's a single skin.

Hi Adam, yeah I missed the other tent survey comment.Just arrived home with new Wild, saw the survey and put up the post.

I find they do give details on size, weight, no. of pegs etc which many people could find usefull to shorten their shortlist.

Cheers John.

There are a number of interesting articles in that magazine.
Like for example, I remember when I was in Kakadu in 1988, I swam up past Twin Falls to the slope that you can walk up to get to the top.
Then I read
There aren't any crocodiles on the plateau, but you should never swim below Twin Falls.

I'm lucky to be here.....
