Withdraw Photo Comp entry?

Is it possible to withdraw an image from the photo competition without replacing it with another?

Only thing that comes to mind is put up an "empty"/edited image file that meets the entry criteria, with a caption saying it's not an entry?
Maybe not that practical and, depending how it looks, may be a risk people think it's some sort of artistic interpretation and vote for it anyway.
