Very nice. Possibly a type of Caladenia gracilis.

Inspired by an earlier photo of a Duck Orchid I headed out to a spot on the Georges River where I have seen them before. No luck with finding any Duck Orchids but I did find some Blotched Hyacinth Orchids (Dipodium punctatum). Don't remember ever seeing a Blotched Hyacinth in the Macarthur area, so they were a joy to behold.

Nice one Michael. I don't recall seeing those locally either, but pretty sure I've spotted them in RNP.

White grevillea

Eriostomen, in magnificent profusion everywhere

Boronia ledifolia, also in profusion, but closing up to set seed

Very tiny flower on reed. The white 'petals' are actually the bracts.

And of course, an orchid. I 'hunt' them . Small waxlip, Glossodia minor.
And those are just a few seen in <1 hr.

*&%$#!! The plants aren't likely to survive as they're very fussy about having the right mycorhizal symbiotes and you need to take a lot of local soil to give them the best possible chance when transplanted.

Also illegal. They are protected.
Yes, they will die fast.

Aargh. You're right that that's no way to treat an orchid. It's a good one too; I see a fair number of Donkey Orchids each spring, but I think it's a special occasion when there's more than two flowers open on a stem, like the four you saw here.

Purple Bearded Orchids are out.
Duck Orchids are out as well.

Nice Michael, I need to try and get out for a local walk and have a look. Not today, it's way too hot for me.
Was up in the Blueys on Saturday and saw occasional small orchids appearing among the ashen landscape.

Heaps of orchids out around the Basin in Kentlyn at the moment as well. Those Duck Orchids are right next to the footpad on the way down to Basin. Got some photos of Tongue Orchids in flower but because of the angle of the sun the photos got washed out.

I decided to go to Campbelltown yesterday afternoon, so detoured to The Basin on the way home once the heat had eased a little. The track was absolutely packed with people (walking down to the Basin, not looking for orchids). I found the duck and bearded orchids plus a yellow one, and a nice looking small cream Correa (Reflexa?). Only took my phone, but some attempted macros follow:

- Duck orchid, Bushwalkers Basin track, Keith Longhurst Reserve, Kentlyn NSW

The yellow unidentified could be a donkey orchid.

Tongue Orchids (Dockrillia Linguiformis). Nearly at the end of flowering so not looking 100% but still beautiful to admire.
