TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Repairing tarpent

Hey guys,

Just found out this forum trying to find a place to fix my tarpent double rainbow.

It just broke down in one of the corner, where the mosquito net joins the main fabric. I attached a picture it's easier to understand.

Basically the mosquito net is torn down and the attachment with the main fabric so a patch wouldn't work (also there is quite a lot of tension at this place).

I'm in Renmark right now and tried a sewing place but they told me the fabric is too thin for their machines.

I'll be reaching Adelaide in a few days that's probably my best option to fix it.

Feel free to help me with any place recommendation or even DIY tips. I'm really afraid it won't be fixable.

Cheers

I'm no sewing whiz so I can't help you in that regard, but if you can't find a suitable repairer in Adelaide I'd recommend getting in touch with Remote Repairs (Melbourne; https://www.remoterepairs.com.au/). They're quite well-regarded and should be able to help you out.

Hi,
I had this comment from TT USA :

Definitely a sewing repair. The mesh can be sutured back onto the existing seam line but will need silicone applied to fill the new seam holes. Based on the fabric color, that DR has seen some use.

remote Repairs in Melbourne or Venus repairs in Sydney would be able to handle it but I had something similar done by a lady that does mending and clothing alteration.
No idea wher you could find that in Adelaide.

I can recommend Venus Repairs Workshop in Sydney. Anna repaired a broken zipper on my Osprey pack a few years ago (Osprey warranty paid) and more recently two tents, in Sept and Oct. First repair was a 15d tent inner that was shredded, came back beautifully done and re seam taped couldn't tell where it was if you didn't know. Second tent was a Dan Duration Xmid 2p fly that I tore a lengthy-ish horizontal tear in when I caught my gaiter hook on it. Impeccable job again.
