Lol. Never going to live that one down am I??
At least this is nature doing the Camouflage job not photoshop....
Kinda close, but kinda not.
Tue 02 Mar, 2010 1:26 pm
We will continue to grind bits off the unknown....
So I know I am sort of right & sort of wrong.
By which I can assume I am somewhere between being in the right quarter of the state, but at the other side of that quarter
- to actually having one of Glovers Bluff, Weld River and/or Snowy South "sorta right"
Any chance of a crumb....
Tue 02 Mar, 2010 5:19 pm
Hmmm a crumb.... Ok let me think.
It's a VERY well known valley??
Tue 02 Mar, 2010 9:55 pm
I looks as if it could be the Derwent Valley looking NW with New Norfolk just out of sight.
Gerry
Wed 03 Mar, 2010 6:18 am
Sorry not the Derwent Vallety
Wed 03 Mar, 2010 7:10 am
Huon Valley I'd presume?
From Bermuda Road or near there?
Wed 03 Mar, 2010 7:25 am
Well your kind of half right my halfwitted friend
It's Huonville indeed but as shot is taken over 20k's away from Bermuda road (Bermuda faces SW and gives AMAZING views of the SW peaks but not Huonville itself) I'll have to ask you to guess again as to the whereabouts of where this shot is taken from.......
Wed 03 Mar, 2010 7:38 am
Yeah, it was a pretty half-a$$ed answer mate, I don't think I've even been up Bermuda Road,
but I know it's one of you favourite local drives so was a total guess.
I'll leave it up to the detectives to solve I think.
Wed 03 Mar, 2010 7:41 am
Haha yeh good try. Bermuda is cool. so close to home yet such good views of Weld, Anne The WA, Picton.......
Ah well here's a clue, anyone who's walked in the Southwest would have to go over this location, and you get a good view of Mt Picton in good weather. Most people think it's Adamsons peak though.....
Wed 03 Mar, 2010 10:44 am
So it's taken from the Southern Outlet near the Huon Road turnoff?
Wed 03 Mar, 2010 12:15 pm
Southern Outlet ends just before Kingston Dan......
I Think you have the right place in your head though......
Wed 03 Mar, 2010 12:19 pm
Well I am certainly confused.
What is established so far? A very well known valley from a spot everyone going to the SW has to pass through..
Are we are looking up the Huon River valley? - not established yet as the only given is we are looking at Huonville.
We are looking approx North - given it is a morning fog and the shadows are therefore lying to the west of the trees.
We also know are over 20 km from Bermuda Road. That could put you at Lower Longley - which I think is stepbystep's spot.
(His reference to Southern Outlet is probably the Huon Fwy - where it meets the old Huon Road)
But looking north from there is nowhere near Hounville?? And there are a whole line of mountains to the north which appear to be missing.
[Could this be an evening coastal fog? and therefore we are looking south ?]
duh

What he said
What's confusing me is why someone as well travelled as yourself would post from here
If it is this spot on the hwy/fwy it has a special name, Vince's Saddle I think.
C'mon Mark this is getting TDS now
Wed 03 Mar, 2010 1:37 pm
Well thats the game isnt it! "where am I" not "where am I kinda near"
yes it's Vinces Saddle looking at the Huon Valley. I posted this one cause even someone as well travelled as me is running out of shots, and I wanted to throw a harder one in to keep everyone on their toes.....
and it was taken very early in the morning, the fog is a common feature for us down here... certainly NOT looking north, I may have to look at the pic again to see why you were convinced I was Brian.......
Over to you Dan.....
Wed 03 Mar, 2010 1:39 pm
No need Mark - I was misconstruing the shadows. I can now see the sun was behind you and you were facing westish.
Wed 03 Mar, 2010 2:24 pm
OK, I've not posted from here before I don't think, I'm sure someone has though....
...and you can drive here too

Wed 03 Mar, 2010 3:29 pm
So this looks like the photo eggs requested recently?
Not my favourite walk but the walk back 'in' the river that me & Oll did was fun, including swimming Tiger snakes
Wed 03 Mar, 2010 3:31 pm
Hahaha you got it mate!
We followed the river some of the way, just when it got a bit scrubby to be bothered with...
Ok you havent named it, but go ahead and throw one up before you sod off home for the day....
Wed 03 Mar, 2010 3:46 pm
Ok, I should have left that to someone else, but it's been a while.
I'm also running a little low without being obvious & putting something from recently up,
so I'll put this hopefully easy one up...
