Friendly Beaches again :)

Fri 05 Mar, 2010 2:10 pm

Gday all, I was up at the Friendly Beaches again last weekend, it's amazing how every time I go up there it throws some interesting weather and light up for me! This time a nice brooding sunset and sunrise, the very overcast sunrise was quite good as it kept the light nice enough to keep shooting well after sunrise.

Cheers,
Michael.

Very nice Michael.

Your 2nd photo was almost right on the spot used for a recent entry in the "Where Am I" game.
The purists may balk at the time exposure surrealistic water effects, but I noted with interest a camera guru's web comment that all photography is art.
I think he is right.
While we may often strive to get realism in a photo, the camera is still an interpretive device and only approximates the eye even in the best conditions.
But it's marvellous how it can "see" things that we can't.
Photos 5 & 6 are very nice with the capture of the crashing waves.

Thanks Eggs, yeah the photo in where am i is only about 5m behind where the third one was taken and about 15 in front of the second one!
I've always loved the long exposure shots, not even really sure why I like them so much! but I've always seen photography as a means of conveying a message/emotion etc and as you pointed out a camera doesn't really produce exactly what our eyes see anyway, but I'm sure there will continue to be many debates over the years on this subject! Besides if everyone shot exactly the same style then everyone would soon become bored with the same interprtation of the same subject ;)

Thanks Michael, yeah there was a bit of rain during the night and some drizzle on and off during the sunrise shoot, but the little umbrella I had came in handy.

Ooo Very nice  Love the moody sky!

Its interesting the first and third show two different ways of capturing water in motion. Neither are what you 'see' standing there..They illustrate eggs comment.. they can only really be 'art'...

Thanks Nuts. The wonders of shutter speed :) It's amazing how a change in shutter speed can give a totally different mood to a similar or even the same composition!
