The peak in the left distance is a fantastic daywalk, and also the start of a classic multiday walk.
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 4:10 pm
Is that Picton in the background?
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 4:12 pm
Not Picton
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 4:15 pm
the mountain in the foreground is quatzite, howver is the mountain on the left in the background dolerite?
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 4:17 pm
No I dont think so, though im no geologist......
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 4:18 pm
its not in the gordon region? say around The Thumbs?
edit: so your actually standing on the sawback range
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 4:19 pm
It may well be in the gordon area, but not near the thumbs no
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 4:23 pm
Not on the Denisons?
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 4:25 pm
Nope i'd class them as near the thumbs......
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 4:27 pm
further north then? Say King Willy Range, although I cant say it looks like that, I'm just guessing for all its worth now
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 4:29 pm
not north of the thumbs.
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 4:33 pm
It looks a little like the hills in the White Monolith Range, but I am pretty sure that its not there, I cant think of any daywalks near there, and it doesnt really look scrubby enough for that area
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 5:32 pm
So after the long delay are we getting something from your Franklands walk?
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 5:36 pm
What is the mountain in the background? Franklands would have been my next guess
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 5:42 pm
I was wrong - the sweep of the ridges around Mt Sprent [the mountain in the background] goes the wrong way.
This is from north of Mt Sprent. I know stu and Mark scouted out this area some time ago.
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 5:59 pm
Yup, thats enough guessing. Close enough Eggs. This is Mt Robert. We got there recently after a longer than expected walk of nearly 9 hrs.
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 7:00 pm
The photo appears to be from the ridge further along the Hamilton Range looking back to Mt Robert.
But anyway - I am a bit tight for time for a while now - will be flying tomorrow.
Anyone else can post a photo next.

Well I know you went thru the Western Arthurs recently, and this surely is taken from there. With alot of zoom, Maybe Mt Orion from the Pegasus saddle??
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 7:07 pm
you have the Western Arthurs correct, but not Orion
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 7:08 pm
Looking back at where the track comes down just before Capricorn?
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 7:10 pm
Not that far in. I didn't walk the entire traverse.
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 7:12 pm
Did you only go to Oberon and back?? Hmmm ok.... maybe it's near the Capella crags then?
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 7:14 pm
Not far from Capella Crags. I ended up doing a series of day trips out of Lake Cygnus, I didn't have time to go much further due to exams
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 7:16 pm
Maybe it's Mt Hersperus then??
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 7:16 pm
keep guessing, there's only so many peaks left
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 7:19 pm
Hahaha especially before Cygnus.. Must be Hayes??
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 7:21 pm
That's close enough. Its an un named peak (as far as I know) on the ridge between Lake Cygnus and Mt Hayes
