Lady Finger Orchids (Caladenia catenata) are out in huge numbers along the Georges River. Walked past several hundred of them this afternoon.

Also came across some Dusky Fingers (Caladenia fuscata) as well.

Like Michael I've seen a lot of local terrestrial orchids lately (and thanks to his advice :)).
But on my lockdown walk near home a couple of hours ago I only found this solitary Lady Fingers (Caladenia catenata).

And I found another patch of Large Flying Duck Orchids (Caleana major).

I've also noticed some mixing of white and pink in close proximity.

Around Cape Otway, Morel mushrooms. Apparently something of a delicacy - although not knowing this at the time, I wasn’t even game to touch the things.

Nice one michael_p, keen to find some more Orchids but in the meantime, I was lucky enough to stumble across the rare Grevillea caleyi, Caley's Grevillea.

Nice find Crollsurf.

Some time back I posted a photo of a Black Bootlace Orchid. These are an interesting orchid as they are not only leafless but they are climbers as well. Managed to find some more locally that are just starting to flower and got this photo of the flower buds and the spongy stems (not sure what to call them) that they use to attach themselves to trees.

Dockrillia. About the most common rock orchid in Australia, AFAIK.

My guess is Streaked Rock Orchid (Dendrobium striolatum). BM's is about as far north as they go apparently.

EDIT: I think these have been reclassified and are now Dockrillia striolatum.

Thanks NNW and Michael_p, now I know: Dockrillia.

There is this mad urge by some people to reclassify everything. Even gum trees are not immune from it.
As far as I am concerned, they still are Dendrobium striolatum.

Wait till 'they' try to reclassify magpies as something else.

Cheers

Genetic analysis has provided new insights, so the new classifications should be reasonably stable.

'They' did. In 2008. From Gymnorhina to Cracticus. But as magpies are not taught Latin, they weren't too bothered by the change.

I came across this nice waratah growing near Wentworth Creek in the Upper Blue Mountains last Thursday. A blazing scarlet beacon in the bush.
