Next one - name the track in the photo
and where you think I was?
Thu 25 Mar, 2010 9:40 pm
Is that dove lake track? Taken from the face track
Thu 25 Mar, 2010 10:43 pm
Yes it is.
I love the way they have built the track into the cliff face. I thought it would be fairly easy.
The section I was on is where there is a climbing gully through a cliff line.
Thu 25 Mar, 2010 11:03 pm
Wow that was just a random stab in the dark - it looked a little familiar, and dove lake is the only lake I have been to that has had a formed track around it. Someone else can post the next photo as not only am I running out of photos, I am going to be flat out for the next few days
Fri 26 Mar, 2010 7:08 am
I'll throw a fairly easy one up to kick off the day then...
Fri 26 Mar, 2010 7:11 am
Pindaaars Peak :p
Probably from Wylly
Anyway I have to work this morning then go see a doctor abuot this tick bite I have in my armpit. (god they are nasty little critters eh??) So I wont be able to post a pic IF I am correct!
Fri 26 Mar, 2010 7:33 am
na, i reckon its from futher along the track, probably kamaruka moraine. ill be out of the office all day so i wont be able to post a pic IF i am correct.
Fri 26 Mar, 2010 8:06 am
Yes, its Pindars Peak (looks so different from this angle);
No, it's not taken from Mt Wylly.
Yes, i'm further along the track than Mt Wylly;
No, it's not from Kameruka Morraine.
Getting very close tho, exact location please as it's an easy one...
next person should be able to make an accurate deduction from the guesses thus far...
Fri 26 Mar, 2010 8:08 am
maybe its not as far along the track as i thought and its actually the far end of Wylly Plateau
Fri 26 Mar, 2010 8:13 am
Not from Wylly Plateau, go with your earlier instincts...
Fri 26 Mar, 2010 8:16 am
well im making a mess of this (atleast i now have upgraded my status from nothofagus gunnii). it looks to be to low to be PB high camp so its gotta be at the base of PB just before you start the ascent.
Fri 26 Mar, 2010 8:40 am
Near enough frenchy.
It's actually taken from about 3/4 of the way up PB (you can just see Kameruka Morraine in the bottom left of the photo).
This day was a scorcher (39 degrees+) & we had to ascend nearly to high camp to find water late in the day from Low Camp;
we only stayed at Low Camp due to an injury by one of our group as Low Camp is a pretty sucky camp site, don't know what the heck they were thinking with that 'platform' for those that have been there, bad design, bad construction, waste of space...anyway, I digress.
Over to you frenchy...
Fri 26 Mar, 2010 8:45 am
sorry but im just walking out of the office now (i am lucky enough to be surveying sewer manholes today) some1 else can post. when i camp on PB high camp it was about the same temperature and it was one of the best camping experiences i have had (sure beat a soggy mt gell the week before). anyway, have a good day.

I suspect you're in the Mt Field area but I cannot place it exactly.

Restraint shown SBS...
Looks like you guys got good weather - nice work.
Always jealous of you b'd's who get to walk during the week

(ie. envy!).

Area correct, placement necessary

Yep great weather and indeed a "surprising" view from this summit, but you are one man that deserves to be envious given the places you get too!

I remember spending some time in the game a while ago, working out where an image was taken, based on the foreground which was most likely those lakes / reservoirs in the distance. I might get around to it if someone doesn't beat me to it.

Looks more like forestry clearings than lakes to me?

No doubt about it, there was no water to be seen from this spot, just huuuuge amounts of forestry.

I thought there was a little bit of activity on this one - but it has gone quiet.
Using the quips in the posts, one presumes this might be related to ILUVSWTAS's earlier entry from Mt Lord.
However, the angles are quite different in this one. So either ..SWTAS said he was on Mt Lord when he wasn't - or this one is from a peak further north - ie outside the Mt Field Nat Park.
Fri 26 Mar, 2010 3:01 pm
I think you are onto it eggs...
So where has ILUVSWTAS been most recently???

That would be found in his signature

But I'd need to get the map out to find out whether it's any of them.
