Hi,
We are planning to do the Viking Circuit the week before Easter and wondered if anyone has been to / checked the water source at Viking Saddle? Our general route will be Upper Howqua campground -> SNS -> Mt Spec -> Viking Saddle -> Wonnangatta River -> Mac Springs -> back to car at UHCG.
I'm expecting Camp Creek to be fine.
Regards,
Nick

Hey Nick,
I have no info, but would you be able to let us know the situation if you make it out there?
Thanks,
Brian.

Yep will do. Someone has mentioned to me that Viking Saddle is flowing (in another social app).

Does anyone have an update on the water conditions? I'm also wondering which side of the saddle would be the best bet for water as on the map I see there is a creek marked on each side. Also is camp creek just below Mt Speculation a reliable water source? Just wondering as I am unfamiliar with the area.

Camp creek water will be fine. Runs in the driest of summers. So far anyway.

Thanks Xplora, good to know. I'm starting to think that I will just need to stock up on enough water at Camp Creek for until I reach the Wonnangatta River. Was planning on spending the night at Viking saddle on the way.

The Viking area can be iffy for finding water. People have been caught short out there especially in the green season period after Xmas. November is usually OK for the Dry Barry Mountains for locating water.
