Good camping down there.
We'll see how this goes, although I think it's one of those "you have to have been there" images.

That’s very similar to the old flying fox we used to use to cross the Gordon River at Gordon Bend but somehow the scenery is totally different.

Actually, only guessing from the clues on the sign and the scenery. Does it cross the Canal that runs from Lake Augusta to Great Lake?
Tue 07 Feb, 2023 8:14 pm
You're in the right general area, but it's not there. This crosses a natural feature.

There's a flying fox marked on the map on the river Ouse near the start of the liawenee canal?
Wed 08 Feb, 2023 9:08 am
Which is the one Graham refered to, which isn't this. This isn't marked on a map, although the appropriate 1:25000 does show something nearby.

Go south everyone, go south. But only a bit.

Cora Lynn, near the old HEC hydrology station

River Ouse, south of the intake for the Monpeelyata Canal??

I’m only guessing at this stage. I’ve never stopped at Little Pine Lagoon but this could possibly be near the bridge over Little Pine River just above the lagoon, maybe near the bridge shown on the map. Didn’t someone else have a picture of that bridge on here recently?

Who, what, where? ListMap keeps seizing up when I try to search that.
OK, it wasn't really fair to put this one up because not only is it not on a map, but it's obviously not something known of by 99.999999% of peopple. Well, I didn't know it was there until I saw it.
It is on the Little Pine River, but not near the footbridge - it's about 2km south of Lake Kay, and a bit less than one km south of the disused recorder station, track and bridge the 1:25 topos show, although there's is no visible sign of any of those ever having existed. Nothing else there except the burnt out remains of old fences.
Graham has been the closest, so I should hand it over to him.

Always wanted to walk from LP to Kay...with a rod. Photo looked very LP-ish.
Another cool reason to lurk on this thread...

Yeah, I did a loop, going up the eastern side of the lagoon and river - which may have turned out to be a mistake because the western side is definitely easier walking - and back via a few other lakes. The lakes themselves didn't impress me much for fishing, but there are some lovely pools in the river above this point that looked like perfect trout water, being wide and still with good overhangs.

Thanks NNW. I saw heaps of fish rising at Lake Sally recently but sadly didn’t have my fly rod with me. Maybe Little Pine River would be worth a look.
This is from last Sunday. What mountain was I descending?

One of my favourite daywalks that one, even if I've only made the top once in 4 attempts because of weather
