There are landmarks. What more do you want?
I was on a long walk. This view was towards the end of it.

Recognisable landmarks.
Where's Eggs when we need him? He knows the unrecognisable ones.

Then I'll give you some possibly slightly more recoognisable clues.
No Abels were involved in the entire walk.
There is a 1:25k map with the name of a nearby peak, but it isn't a map of this bit of Tassie.

Anywhere near the PoWs?

Define "near".
I could see the POWs during lot of this walk, but there is some significant water in between that range and this.

Ok, so it sounds like Diamond isn't the peak you mentioned. Probably not Cuvier or Adamson. I gave up at the Ds.

looks like the frankland on the right and greycap in centre, but I cant make the angles fit.

More than halfway to right initial. Persevere! The map covers an area a long way from the relevant peak, which is across a valley and not the closest to me.

Not sure about Greycap, but you're probably right about Frankland. I know where it was, but still trying to work out the direction in which I'm looking.

C'mon everyone. The youngster nearly has it right.

Lord.
Your on RAP, looking due West, the mountains on the right being the Companion range and in the distance are the Propsting and Lawson Ranges!
Wed 02 Aug, 2023 12:39 pm
I've spent 4 hours combing the rest of the state!

Yep.

Quiet day at work, is it?
Wed 02 Aug, 2023 1:50 pm
I've got a day off today!
Wed 02 Aug, 2023 3:15 pm
Point Eric?
Wed 02 Aug, 2023 4:54 pm
Almost.
This place has a name on the 25k maps.
Wed 02 Aug, 2023 7:27 pm
Black Cliff?
Wed 02 Aug, 2023 8:44 pm
Yes!
Thu 03 Aug, 2023 11:13 am
Thu 03 Aug, 2023 3:40 pm
Quamby Bluff?
Thu 03 Aug, 2023 4:03 pm
East from Quamby
Thu 03 Aug, 2023 4:23 pm
It looks to me like somewhere near Stacks? Is that St Pauls Dome LH back?
Thu 03 Aug, 2023 4:24 pm
Much closer with Stacks - go east...
That should be St Pauls Dome in view
Thu 03 Aug, 2023 5:56 pm
Mt Nicholas?
Thu 03 Aug, 2023 6:28 pm
too far east
Thu 03 Aug, 2023 6:38 pm
There's an obscured lump on the right. Looking at the map, maybe Sphinx Bluff?
Fri 04 Aug, 2023 9:05 am
The obscure lump is the Sphinx. So...
Fri 04 Aug, 2023 10:43 am
Bent Bluff?
Fri 04 Aug, 2023 11:03 am
Probably Storys Bluff then?
EDIT: Can that, I'm hastily looking at the map upside down

. Tortoise will be correct.
Fri 04 Aug, 2023 11:26 am
Indeed - Bent is correct
