Spotted these Owl chicks this morning. This hollow had been used by Corellas previously but I didn't see them this year. Now I know why.

Also found another native Bee hive.

Female Gang-gang Cockatoo. Not a good shot as it kept flying from tree to tree. I just pointed my camera and clicked. Spotted the male about 5 minutes later but he was a long way up another tree and took off shortly after being spotted.

No photos I am afraid, but so far we have (carefully) evicted NINE (9) antechinus from our house. Electronic trap (MYOG), live eviction into bush.
We would not mind so much but they do poo everywheren and piddle as well.
And one of them chewed a hole in a sleeping bag: very naughty. I repaired.

Managed to get a snap of the male Gang-gang today. There was also a juvenile in the same tree but it was deep in and I could barely see it let alone get a photo. I'm assuming that the female who flew away and this male are the juveniles parents.

Not sure if there is an issue with this Koala's left eye. It was closed in both photos.

Good news. I managed to find this Koala again. Left eye looks fine. Even better news, can you see the lump tucked away under her leg. It's a joey. The joey looked very young so it may have only just started to emerge from the pouch.

Good one Michael. Nice to see our local koalas doing well, still yet to spot one though .
I was in the bush yesterday on a volunteer trip in the lower Blueys, at a location where koalas are known to be.
Managed to find some marked trees but that was all.

I'm trying to identify a critter seen on my last little ramble. Not a rat, but maybe the size of a small rat - smaller than a potoroo anyway - tail short or not obvious, ground dwelling, sort of four-legged hop style of locomotion (lift front paws off ground, push off with rear, land on front paws, lift rear paws, bring them forward, ground back paws and repeat). No photos because they were fleeting encounters, but there is obviously a healthy population spread around the area.

ETA: after a certain amount of searching my GoogleFu has come up with White-footed dunnart Sminthopsis leucopus although it would have to have been a large one; there's certainly nothing else that fits. It's also a new one on me as I didn't even know we had dunnarts in Tassie. Neat.

Out for a local walk this morning. Observed these two about 1-2km apart. Very lucky to see two in one walk.

Some time back I posted a photo of two Boobook Owl chicks. I have walked past the hollow they were in recently and noticed a number of smaller birds dive-bombing the entrance. Finally was able to work out why they were dive-bombing, the Boobooks are back. Looks like an adult in the following photo.

And who doesn't love an owl. Spotted this Powerful Owl today. He watched me intently as I tried to get as close as possible. They are so much bigger when you see them in real life.

Yuck. Brown snake - (yes, probably pseudonaja) near Alice Springs Telegraph station. Bright sunny freezing- everything that should have kept it undercover instead of sharing the path with me.

Noisy Miners nesting near the roof gutter. Much 'Uber Eats' activity by parents. Nest is now empty. Success!

A wildlife question, what kind of glider would be about the size of a squirrel? Bigger than sugar gliders. Saw a silhouette land the climb higher in a large coastal gumtree on the Sunshine Coast...

Spotted at the Bunya Mountains NP in QLD.

Not sure if it's an eastern bearded dragon or a water dragon (or something else perhaps). Someone else may be able to identify.
