Looks like the view passing below Mt Doris?
Sat 06 Jul, 2024 7:57 pm
Correct! Never have I since seen as much dry powder snow as that day!
Sat 06 Jul, 2024 8:14 pm
This was April snow - but were is this ramshackle bunch headed?
Sat 06 Jul, 2024 8:18 pm
Cradle Mountain?
Sat 06 Jul, 2024 11:42 pm
Right park, not Cradle

I’m guessing it’s a side trip off The Overland Track because they’re not carrying much. (They’re wearing it all for some reason.) probably a worthy peak in those conditions.
Try Barn Bluff.
Sun 07 Jul, 2024 4:00 pm
Not Barn Bluff. A day visit from a hut.

Only done it in summer, so hard to tell, are you climbing Ossa?
Sun 07 Jul, 2024 4:54 pm
I can see some cairns there so a marked route. The Acropolis?
Sun 07 Jul, 2024 5:33 pm
Yes - I have climbed the Acropolis twice - both times covered in snow - summer and autumn
Sun 07 Jul, 2024 6:40 pm
Thank you. I've been up there a few times but not in conditions like that.
Where was I on this occasion?

Yes, that’s it. I call it Hugel Plateau but it doesn’t seem to have an official name.

We did not have clear views back when traversing the Thwaites Plateau, but I imagine you could get a view of the 4 Peaks like this from the pad out to the old campsite that was supposed to be out there.
Wed 10 Jul, 2024 5:21 pm
Yes, 4 Peaks from near the Thwaites Plateau camp site.
