Haven't been there (...yet..

)
But are you on the track off the Arthur Plains coming/going from Luckman's Lead - with the picture facing through the gap with Luckmans Lead running up the mountain at the far rear?
I should add this gap is where Pass Creek goes through. And this is on the north side of Pass Creek

Good guess, I can see exactly what/where you mean.
But no this is not the Arthur Plains

How about the side of the ridge leading down to the eastern end of Hidden Bay - looking north?
Wed 05 May, 2010 3:41 pm
Getting closer.
Wed 05 May, 2010 4:25 pm
On the edge of the Louisa Plains?
Wed 05 May, 2010 4:28 pm
Further West and slightly North
Wed 05 May, 2010 5:09 pm
On a ridge above Faraway Creek - just west of Louisa Creek?
Wed 05 May, 2010 5:13 pm
Further West and slightly North

Ok - so west means a reasonable way west - somewhere between New Harbour Range and Window Pane Bay.
My very first thoughts when I saw this was skirting the north west side of New Harbour Range - but thought there would be more open valleys in view.
But maybe not..
Is it from the north west side of the New Harbour Range? On the track between Melaleuca and New Harbour?

Hannant Ck looking N to Erskine Range?
Is that mercurichrome on Wally's arm or is he just bleeding?
Thu 06 May, 2010 7:03 am
I think he's bleeding.
And you got it Rob. Well done.

Someone else post a pic please. I will be away for a few days.

Looks like it might have been from leeches? There is blood on his foot as well.
I take it this area was essentially trackless? [ I thought it looked a bit like a track where you were]
Thu 06 May, 2010 10:30 am
Okay - I haven't played for a while. Where am I?
cheers
Peter

Hi Brian! Yes it is essentially trackless, tho a good pad does exist in places over the south west cape range and also down into horseshoe creek.
Thu 06 May, 2010 2:47 pm
Peter is it somewhere on the Wellington range?
Thu 06 May, 2010 2:59 pm
Sorry Nick - a fair bit north-west of the Wellington Range
Thu 06 May, 2010 3:44 pm
I am in brain fade on this one.
My initial thoughts were 40 Lakes Peak - but shape is not quite right and that looks like burnt out gum trees on the slopes.
I also considered Rogoona from the north - but still no fit.
I think the big clue has to be an extensive area of burnt out trees. I know there are lots of these areas on the central plateau - but I cannot place the rise.

I'm not used to hearing you stumped Brian! Actually I think that might be snow and frost damage on the trees as much as fire damage. And it's not anywhere near the Central Plateau ... somewhat closer to Hobart (tho' not the Wellingtons).
I'm away for a couple of hours, but will check in later,
cheers

Could it be on the Mt Field East track?
Thu 06 May, 2010 7:48 pm
Good to see the brain getting focussed again Brian
Yes, it's near Windy Moor headed towards Mt Field East in winter. Icicles were tinkling in the trees ... a gorgeous winter's day.
Back to you eggs,
cheers
Peter

There are lots that I don't know.
And I haven't indulged in Tassie during winter yet.
Where is this?
Fri 07 May, 2010 10:26 am
That's gotta be Daisy Lakes (north), taken from the ridge between there and the Long Tarns. Here's my photo from approximately the same place.

I was thinking of you when I posted it.
[Edit - hey - that's just like my kids - "take me to the rocks Dad!" ]
Fri 07 May, 2010 10:38 am
It looks like you are on the boardwalk in Cradle Valley (near Ronny Creek) with Crater Peak in the distance.
Fri 07 May, 2010 10:53 am
That's it... having just set out from Ronnie Creek car park on our way to a couple of nights at the Scout Hut with 6 kids under 6.
Your turn, Bap.

Its the weekend again.
This does not have the look of dolerite about it.
So I will hazard a wild guess that you might be looking up at the side of Mt Jukes in the West Coast Range from the road that goes over its edge?
