Not the Acropolis.

Rock looks like quartzite or conglomerate? Cliffs like that but not Frenchmans or Arthurs ... Jukes, Tyndalls, Sorell, Spires, Pokana ...

At least on BW's photo I can now see that's Fedder and Four Peaks, not Frenchmans from an odd angle that was the rabbit hole I went down. From... edit...Picton?

Indeed it was Picton, it was lovely watching the sun play over the various peaks for an hour or two

Thanks, bluewombat. I must go back for the view. Good to hear you like mountain-gazing too.

Not that plateau, though you're generally in the right part of the state.

Yep, that'll do. Eliza Plateau, between Eve Peak & Eliza Bluff. Over to you.

Well, you were obviously up on the CP during the big freeze. yingina, Shannon Lagoon, Augusta, Arthur, Woods - they were all iced over from shore to shore Friday evening and most of Saturday and Sunday, and on the more sheltered edges it was incredibly thick. Not sure about this specific spot; it looks more Augustaish than anything else but I'd have thought the gates would all be closed.
Mon 26 Aug, 2024 5:25 pm
Augusta is correct NNW.
The dad wondering out loud how deep the water under the ice was alarming. But not as alarming as the youngster trying the break the ice by stomping on it, or the even younger fella finding a good spot to toboggan out about 50m off the rocks.
Mon 26 Aug, 2024 5:53 pm
I tried the ice on
yingina the sensible way - heaviest rock I could lift over my head hurled down onto the surface as hard as possible. Result: one small chip out of the ice and a very pissed off rock skating out at least 50m.
