Waterfall - name & location ? (day walk from Sydney)

Wed 11 Sep, 2024 1:31 am

Hello Brains trusts
Can you tell me the name/location of this waterfall.
Thanks

It was a day walk from Sydney.
So, must be within 2 to 3 hrs drive from Sydney.

Longer version video

The video says it was 25 km walk. 11 hours.
There was a walk along a firetrail.
Then bushbash.
Otherwise, very little clue.

Further to my previous post ...
I found out that the waterfall is in the southern highlands.
But still don't know it name and location.

Hi Paul, if definitely in Southern Highlands, it could be in Wingello/Penrose/Bullan area.
1. Johnstone Creek
2. Nyes Creek
3. Tallowa Gully
Just guessing from firetrail length and up/down stream facing perspectives. Anyway, best way to confirm with the content creator :)

Edit:
There are plenty of interesting waterfalls/cascades around Kangaroo Valley, some have quite difficult accesses but I don't know one has the features in the video to my knowledge.

Ok, a guy with a Facebook name of Jeremy Fod found out the location of the mystery waterfall !

On the NSW official 1:25,000 scaled topographic map, it is the next main waterfall downstream (south) of Gerringong Falls.

The group in the videos parked their car at the carpark for Gerringong Falls.
They then walked on the loooong firetrail.
Then bushbashed down to the fall.
That explained their 25 km, 11 hours walk.

Looks like a great big pool from the aerial imagery!

Hi Allchin09
Yup, your aerial photo is the pool at the bottom of the waterfall.
The pool is large, with plenty of water.
You can swim there.
(I was there on 2024-Dec-05)

Did you follow the creek downstream from the base of the main falls? Or find a pass down from the Hersey firetrail?

Hi Walk_fat boy_walk
I have messaged you privately (in this forum)

One simple way to this waterfall :
(About 6 hours return trip ... depending on how fast your are)

Drive your car along Gerringong Creek Road.
Eventually the road comes to a private property with a sign:
"Private property, no access"

Park car outside the property.

Get down into Gerringong Creek,
and just keep walking up-stream.

The creek seems to go through private properties.
But from the official NSW topographic map,
The private properties stop at the banks of the creek.

The creek itself is crown land.
Hence you have the right to walk along the creek.

"Allchin09" of this forum agreed with my assessment.
