Yes I'm aware of the recent issues, now getting constant error messages that I've been "banned" and the site won't display.
Eventually comes back after hitting the back button and refreshing the page. I suspect the web server is being hit by DOS attacks.
Anyway let's see if I can get this guess in before it crashes again.
Is it Lake Muga Muga?

I think you mean Lake Nuga Nuga and if so you are correct.

Yes I do. Those 2 keys are next to each other, I'll blame age induced dyslexia

.
NSW. Might be tricky, a lot of zoom. What river valley am I looking towards?
Bonus points for any other feature or my approximate location.

- Looking towards the Munyang Valley, Dicky Cooper Bogong and Mt Gungartan from Pipers Creek valley, Kosciuszko NP via Smiggin Holes NSW

That's an excellent guess. Yes to Munyang, Gungartan and Dicky Cooper. Not that far from Rennix but I'm actually in the valley of Pipers Creek, a km or two from the Kosci road. You get the bonus points.

Watercourse is named. Cascade isn't although it has an unofficial name (that I found out on this site long after I'd been here) that it shares with a camping cave in the same NP,. about a day and a halfs walk from here

There's another waterfall a few hundred metres downstream, after which it gets dark for a bit

I really don't have much idea but it looks Budawangy (is that a thing), so I'll go Camping Rock Creek to get things started.

Definitely budawangy, and within 15k or so from camping rock creek. Different catchment though.

I am stuck on what sort of clue "dark" is. Not a good lateral thinker I guess. I'll just throw out another random guess, are you on Styles Creek, because the only dark I can think of is Dark Brothers Cave.
Wed 05 Mar, 2025 12:50 pm
Nothing lateral about it... the waterway literally gets "dark" downstream (as in the light is obstructed). Styles is wrong but now in the right catchment.

Is it the upper section of Tullyangela?

Overshot it. This is still Budawangs (as opposed to Ettrema)

Sallee Creek?

Overshot it again, but now within 7-8 k's. The "dark" bit downstream is a recognised canyon.
Thu 06 Mar, 2025 7:49 pm
Well this is highly unlikely but the Klms kind of match up and there is a dark gorge also…
So I’ll throw another locating guess in for pigeon house creek.
Thu 06 Mar, 2025 8:37 pm
Getting further away (and back into the wrong catchnent). Like pigeon house Creek, this watercourse is also described in doughton's guide

Another wild guess, Back Range Creek and Picture Canyon

Yes. Specifically (the unofficially named) dog leg falls a couple of hundred meters upstream from the canyon

I only got that because Youtube had queued up a video and as it started I suddenly realised I was looking at virtually your exact photo! The internet IS spying on me.
Anyway, off to the NT.

Next hint, this conservation area is on the Carpentaria Highway.

Caranbirini ?

I was going to ask for the trail name but it took long enough to get the area name so over to you Eggs.

The park has appeared before and I was wondering between that and the Lost City.
Shifting to Vic

If you click on the image and zoom in, there is a clue of sorts in the centre of the photo.
