Hi all,
Myself and 3 friends are planning on doing some snowshoeing over this coming weekend 21-23rd June. We will have to drive from Melbourne the first day so more like 2.5 days. We are all experienced hikers in non-alpine conditions but not super experienced in winter (i.e. no crampon or ice axe use). Looking for recommendations for trips. We will probably stay away from Bogong and Feathertop as they are potentially too icy. Any recommendations for alternatives with good snow cover and maybe some nice huts to stay near? We have MSR Evo Ascent snowshoes and micro spikes. Ideally we wont have to pay resort entry but will definitely consider it. Only have a Subaru AWD so something with easy access also.
Thanks!

The Fainters might be worth a look. I'm thinking of heading up that way if all my ducks learn how to line up in a row.
Park at Big Hill carpark (Big Hill road, turn at Cranky Charlie, just pass Mount Beauty). Head up to Bogong Jack Saddle, I think there's a hut there.
I'm not sure the height at which snow shoeing is feasible, but should be viable up high.
On to the Fainters, Tawonga Hut, Pretty Valley Pondage/Pole 333 and high-plains huts. Return some version of the way you came in.
Not sure if that will do 3 days.
There's plenty of variations once you get onto the Bogong High Plains, and it won't be steep.
