Shipstern Bluff.....

Postby stepbystep » Sat 11 Sep, 2010 3:45 pm

If like me your a bit of a surfing fan you may like to know the swell is up and those in the know will be heading to 'Shippies' tomorrow.
I am assisting a tv crew, but will have plenty of time to explore the area, so this post can either serve as a warning to stay away or as a heads-up for some pretty spectacular action.
There will be several jetskis, boats and a helicopter buzzing about, not quite a wilderness experience but a spectacle to behold.
If you do pop down say hi, I'll be wearing a Mtn Hardwear cap, grey shorts and either a green fleece jumper or beige shirt.
Cheers, Dan
P.S. If you have no idea what I'm talking about look here http://www.google.com.au/images?hl=en&s ... r&gs_rfai=

It's cool how Tassie is known in international surfing for that wave there.
So how close do you get as film crew? Imagine how much that wave could own you in a jetski or boat. I've only been as close as the cape raoul track, but it sounds like good fun!

Awsome!!! makes me want to take up surfing again. What a great job you have to be able to work at these type of places.
It is easier to go down a hill than up, but the view is much better at the top.

Bah, that's one day of the year, the rest of the time it's staring at monitors, mind you I'm hearing whispers of a job down at Melaleuca for a few days :D
