It's great to see such an excellent set of pictures that really do look like winter (in both competitions this month).

Gee there's a great bunch of photos this month.
I find it interesting to download them and open in photoshop, or even windows photo viewer & the depth of the images increases tremendously

Can I please have five votes this month? There is no way I can decide between the best of these.

Great shot wiT, just curious though, I couldn't vote for it due to the framing - Marions LO needed more headroom(i'm a stickler for balanced images).
Was this due to an issue stitching the panorama image, or is this how it was intended? Still a fantastic image.
BTW, thanks to whoever voted for my pic - what were you thinking?
Wed 29 Sep, 2010 7:48 pm
Thanks SBS. Yes & no. I did have to crop this after stitching, but I didn't have enough foreground - too close to the shore.

Marvellous image, Mr Walker. Did you have to spend the night at Dove Lake to get there in time to take that shot?
Wed 29 Sep, 2010 8:03 pm
hehe no. Dove lake is an 1¼ hours for my place. I left home about 4 AM.
Wed 29 Sep, 2010 8:13 pm
Did you have to get out of the car to take that shot?

Seriously though, congratulations, it is a fine shot! Though I do agree with what Dan says about the framing, a rule of 3'rds as Miss NNW told me once....
Stu, hard luck. A good shot beaten by an even better one, JUST.
However, Dan and I agree your one of the reeds in the water (as seen on FB) was a better shot than the reflections though. Maybe one for the photo of the year comp??

my word that Is a stunner walkintas.. i'm no expert...maybe you could balance what they have said by Loosing some foreground? Well done.
I also liked the snowman, it was different.. (and a well made snowman)
There are some great entries eh...

No, cropping the foreground would be a mistake. That rock adds a lot to the image. It just needs a bit more sky to balance it.
This was another one for which I'd like to have been able to award points. Split 10 points amongst three or four images, say. Would have been fairer than just nominating one.
And easier. Although tossing a coin to pick between the two best is easy enough . . .

you could do it like the election ballot, number the boxes.
those that get no votes in these things would feel a bit downhearted?
btw. he doent have more sky
does he? i guess it could be 'made'?

Steve, I am curious, how did the snowman get red eyes when you didn't use a flash? Or did you?

Thanks everyone.
