[Son of a Beach]

Did anyone else do the Burnie 10 this year? I think I might have seen MrCAMEL there through the crowd (or otherwise somebody that looked like him?), but didn't recognise any other people from here.

It was my first attempt, and having never run any further than about 4km before in my life, and not have done any real training for it, I was happy to have simply been able to complete the whole thing without slowing to a walk (except to skull a cup of water twice).

I only went in it to support my wife who had made it her big goal for the entire year, and she was devastated when she injured her foot in training last Thursday and had to pull out. I was was going to withdraw too, but she wanted me to do it for her anyhow. And now that I've done it, I really quite enjoyed it (well, I enjoyed finishing!).

My time was 1:02:36 which is nothing special, but I was pretty pleased with it, considering my lack of experience and training. I reckon the last couple of bushwalks helped a lot (and I did do a bit of jogging leading up to each of the bushwalks).

Almost 10K an hour, pretty good going I reckon.

I've done the Burnie Ten once before; that was enough for me. I have done the Launceston Ten each of the 4 years it's been held, I'd prefer to not have to drive for 1.5 hours each way just to get to the starting line!!

I've got the Triple Top Mountain Run coming up on Nov 14th; it nearly killed me when I did it for the first time last year......now I have a better idea of what to expect I'm hoping to do a little better!!

Well done Nik, and any other forum members who participated. Great that you enjoyed it as well! As a long time distance runner, I know of the Burnie 10. It would be nice to be able to justify the cost to come down and run. Events like this are usually well organised and enjoyable (in a masochistic kind of way). Watch out, you can get the bug for it just like bushwalking.

I managed to beat MrCamel by a few minutes, coming in at 47 minutes and a bit. A little slower than I had hoped. You can see me in the picture in todays Advocate, near the bottom of the street, very focused, in a shirt that says 'my iphone has completely changed the way ipoop'.

Ha no it is not. STS would change the word iPoop to iPood. It's back to the trust Sea to Summit Pocket Trowel now. iPood got them in a bit of hot water.

That's why I thought it might have been theirs, saying iPoop instead, a bit if a pisstake since Apple wrecked their branding.
