hammocking in tasmania

Sat 13 Nov, 2010 3:42 am

Hello,

i'm new :D and by pure luck a found this site. I got some questions.

I will be in tasmania in april. (i'll be in New Zealand before that) and i wanted to do some hikes, i was thinking of the overland, frenchman caps and if a have more time left freycinet. The south coast track is to expensive to get there. Oh yeah, i'll be traveling btw, 2 months NZ, 2 months Australia. 8)

Now i heard i'm not allowed to use my hammock in the tracks? Is that so? Also is see wooden lpatforms?? If i can't use my hammock on those track i'll need a ultralight 1 person tent...

Can anyone confirm that i'm not allowed to hammock?

i'm positive you can use your hammock... just don't damage the trees / bush where you tie on to.... keep warm though.

Might be a bit of a problem on tent platforms though. U/L tent may be better.

the tent would be easier in some places where you have fewer tie on spots available...

thx for the answers, i heard it from people how own a lodge at one of the tracks,

i'm looking into a UL tent. I could use the tarp from the hammock, but keeping my trekking pole up on the slippery wooden plaforms might be tricky?

Any ideas on a ul tent? How warm is it in April?
