No, I've always assumed that you're about as far ahead of him as he is ahead of me. Just that the way you phrased a couple of posts there makes it sound like you haven't yet done some of the peaks named.

*sigh*
I knew it was too good to be true.

Slightly less than 110, but yes. You're going to hit the wall soon. ;) The law of diminishing returns kicks in eventually. You'll be like stu, running out of places to go.

Too misty up on Field to do T & F, so I went up Field East and Tanina Bluff instead. Neither of which I rated very highly. :x

It was a bit dull with 100m viewing distance. Just felt like a walk on Mt Welly. Welcome back, BTW!

I tried to pull out... but pulled out of a different (harder/longer) trip due to my dodgy back. Someone told me they "wernt going to let me pull out of this one too" And "you'll be right mate" ........

Anyway, I did my own thing at my own pace and had a good time!! Actually slept like a log for the first time ever in a tent! didnt even stir any of the 4 nights.

What my big mate said was quite true, so I thought i'd let that one slide. Not that I have the right to pull anyone up on typos.....

Thinking about doing the circuit as a day walk this weekend anti clockwise from K col - florentine - tyenna - belton - mawson and back out via the golden staircase. How's the vegetation on the slopes between tyenna and lake belton, and also heading up to mawson from the saddle on the lake belcher track??

Re: Tyenna Peak

Tue 22 Mar, 2011 5:46 pm

I can only pass on what i've heard from others as I havent done that loop myself, but i've heard it's pretty easy going. There's a good scree slope that goes up along way up Tyenna, you can follow that most of the way to avoid the scrub.
A friend and I did Tyenna return via Florentine from Dobson (over Rodway) in around 8hrs.

Coming down off Tyenna will be a doddle, scrub is only thigh high at worst, pad through buttongrass from Belton to the track below is vague but just keep heading down the obvious open section of buttongrass and you'll hit the track just above the river(creek really). The track up to the saddle below Mawson is very nice walking. If you are clagged in crossing from Florentine to Tyenna should only be done with great care navigation wise, I would bail on Florentine and back out in those conditions.
