TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Macpac Eclipse - help - 2 doors?

Postby bushpig » Mon 24 Jan, 2011 7:17 pm

Hi,

Im trying to find out the history of Macpac Eclipse - Ive just received a 2nd hand (khaki) Eclipse with 1 entrance (but dual entrance through the vestibule). But, from what I can gather the blue version has 2 doors (ie on opposit sides of the tent). Can anyone help with this? I actually want a 2 man tent with 2 doors for better ventilation so not happy with the one I just received. thanks and cheers, from a confused bushpig.

I have a macpac eclipse (blue) about 2 - 3 yrs old. Def 2 doors/2 vestibules. I bought it as a replacement to the microlight which I found to cramped and with only 1 door no breeze through the tent so can be hot in summer. The eclipse is more a 1 man spacious or 2 man cramped tent. I particulalry like the fact the doors are 2 piece enclosed or mesh. A lot of tents are either/or and dont give you the option. Mesh is great for summer and enclosed is not only good to keep out breeze/snow but have used it on the beach here in WA and helps keep the sand/dust out of the tent too.

Hey thanks guys! I got the tent on ebay and they said it was 2 doors but its not! It does however have dual entrance through the fly, but is completely closed in on the other side (but with a small vent in the inner tent). I think I will look for an Apollo instead. cheers, Jessica

Apollo is definately more suited for 2 people than the Eclipse. Plus its freestanding and only requires 2 pegs in good weather which is a blessing on hard/stoney ground!

The blue eclipse seems to be the redesigned newer version of the old tan or khaki one but when I looked at the Macpac website recently they no longer seem to have them. I am interested in replacing mine if anyone has one that they are looking to pass on.
