TIP: The online
Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Anyone else noticed that after using Revivex to re proof Gortex Coats that they stink even after being in rain and a good airing outdoors ?

After walking all day I stink whether or not I wore a re-proofed Gortex Coat.

But if I stand in the rain and get a good airing it helps

As do I wT but it tends to scare the animals when I stand naked in the woods

However a pointless reply to a real question, do I remember you still use a Japarra that is 20 odd years old

I do have said Japara, but mostly I wear my paclite goretex coat, which is probably getting close to needing re-proofing. I take it you are not recommending I try Revivex?

Sorry I had forgotten about your Paclite

and Revivex does work but as previously mentioned it "pongs" as does( I am informed by a reliable source ) the Nikwax product to a lesser extent, so if you can find a reproofing medium that does not smell for weeks after it has been applied please let us all know

I used Revivex recently and didn't notice a pong after it had been in the dryer.

Thanks for that info MJD what breed of Gortex Coat do you have? Mine is a PP "vagabond " in the heavy duty "Taslan" fabric, also next time I wash it I will use a "tec wash" rather than pure soap flakes .

I've used the Nikwax stuff. Never noticed much of a smell when using it, and certainly haven't noticed anything when dry.
Maybe this is part of the reason Revivex is cheaper?

Will be using Nikwax product next time (pity about the new $35.00 10oz full Bottle of Revivex I have) so will be interested in the result.

Corvus - I used the Revivex on my Outdoor Research Furio Jacket. Beaded nicely for a day or two, but the sleeves are back to "normal" now.
