Pandani Club went for a walk today on Timbs Track.
When we reached Adamsfield Track we turned left toward Adamsfield and the Florentine River.
After a while we came uopn the Florentine River, and there was a flying-fox.
Seems the cable is still quite intact, but the carriage lays on the bank broken and unusable.
At the moment the river is quite low, and so the logs laying in it can help to ford the stream.

muka,
how overgrown was timbs track? any idea how long it would take to reach the base of packers spur (ridge leading off the thumbs near adamsfield)? I want to do the thumbs as a day walk (by day I mean within daylight hours as opposed to the full 24 ;))

If you want to do the The Thumbs fro Timbs Track then you are best to cross the Florentine, turn hard right and follow the Vale of Rasselas track for a few kilometers, cut across the Gordon Plains heading NE (from Tiger Creek I think), and head up the Thumbs slightly south of the summit. It would be a hard, long day. Easy day & half.

The Vale of Rasselas track varies from easy walking to hard to follow. The first bit is a bit hard for 300m or so because of fallen trees but once past that it's quite nice for a while.

I might have posted something on here before....

It is a while since I went this way though.
