Yes correct, your turn. A stunning place to visit.
That was too easy for you John, is there any where that you have not been.
Hi Tony,
I haven't actually been there, other than driving through the nearby region a long, long time ago. But it certainly does look like a stunning place. Unfortunately there are still many places I haven't been. I guessed it with a bit of research and landscape matching. Next one is also in NSW but might be harder so I'll post 2 images. What is this summit?:

Would it be Mt Imlay Trig station, Mt Imlay National Park.

I am the same there are still many places I haven't been, I have found that from the photos I can pick the area even though I have not been there.

Yes it would be, that was easier than I expected. You must have been there? From memory there was also some Telstra infrastructure on the summit, which was a bit unsightly considering the location, and a rare species of Eucalypt that grows on the mountain,
Eucalyptus imlayensis. Your go Tony...

I have not been there but a search of google images using 'trig NSW' led me to this site
http://www.waymarking.com/waymarks/WM9Y ... k_Eden_NSW there are some photos with the radio station in the background.
This is an easy one, what is the name of the mountain that we are looking at, and if possible, where am I when I took the photo and what is the name of the swamp in the foreground. the area is ACT

Micalong Swamp, and the Brindabellas?
Mon 07 Mar, 2011 5:25 pm
The rocks look like they could be on Mt Kelly.
Mon 07 Mar, 2011 5:33 pm
Actually I do believe I have finally figured it out, you'd be looking at Mt Namadgi from Mt Kelly... And what a "Rotten" swamp!
Mon 07 Mar, 2011 5:40 pm
Now I
know I'm right, I'm going to have to scan some negatives...
Google is my friend.

Well done, you are right, Mt Namadgi and Rotten Swamp from Mt Kelly. Your turn
The photo was taken before the 2003 fires, we rode our bikes to the base of Kelly and walked the rest, parts of the track have dissapeared since, and the scrub is much harder to walk through now.

Well it was going to be too much trouble to find the neg, get the scanner going etc. So I had to cheat and take a photo of one of my 6x4" prints.
And here it is...
Northern Territory. (Is that a first?)

Hey tasadam, early one we had on of Uluru and Kata Tjuta in the background, so this is the second one, but some territory photos are welcome!
Mon 07 Mar, 2011 7:13 pm
Could this be in Katherine Gorge? Haven't been there since 1991 but it looks a possibility after checking back on some old photos.
Mon 07 Mar, 2011 7:20 pm
No not Katherine Gorge.

I should have remembered that - it was the first one in this game that I would have been able to get
without the help of Google.

Further north...
Mon 07 Mar, 2011 10:29 pm
Further north brings you into the orbit of Litchfield NP. If so, wherein i've no idea. The tourist photos show lots of swimming, but in much shadier circumstances. (Forfeit)
Mon 07 Mar, 2011 10:33 pm
North of Katherine is Arnhem Land and Litchfield.
I have not been to either, but I suspect you might be in an Arnhem Land gorge - but looking out from a waterfall.
I will suggest looking out from Twin Falls
Mon 07 Mar, 2011 10:38 pm
Pretty sure it's not Litchfield, no open pools that large there.
More likely Kakadu NP. Twin Falls I'm not so sure.

This bit is right, because I have cliffs either side of me and I have water at my feet.
But it's not Twin Falls.
Mind you, I did also go to Twin Falls, and I climbed to the top looking for the water, the rocks were so darn hot and I was barefoot I was Seriously contemplating jumping off so I didn't have to walk back down.
The waer seems to flow through some cave / cutout at the top and we couldn't find it.
Fantastic place though, hope to go there again some day.
BTW, very warm (hint).
Tue 08 Mar, 2011 5:35 am
Could it be the gorge below the Jim Jim Falls in Kakadu.
Tony
Tue 08 Mar, 2011 7:52 am
I think it may be a spot called the Jim Jim Beach Pool?
Tue 08 Mar, 2011 8:07 am
Yes this is looking out from the magnificent Jim Jim Falls in Kakadu, October 1988 and very hot.
While Jim Jim Beach Pool fits the description, I didn't know it as that, and I am happy with the gorge below the falls, so over to Tony.

Yep, I agree with your decision Adam. Bring on the next one Tony...

Thanks Adam,
This is an easy one, it is in NSW.

I would say it is in the middle area of the park.
