you got it John.... over to you
Wed 16 Mar, 2011 11:22 am
According to my research it's the highest single-drop waterfall in Australia. Next one is in NSW:

- Salisbury Waters via Dangars Gorge - Oxley Wild Rivers NP, near Armidale NSW

Kowmung River?
Wed 16 Mar, 2011 12:55 pm
Not Jenolan or Kowmung Rivers, but I can see the resemblance. Some clues, I am in quite deep gorge country somewhere in country NSW (not Blue Mountains).
Wed 16 Mar, 2011 1:23 pm
Could it be Gara Gorge near Armidale.
Wed 16 Mar, 2011 1:43 pm
Dangars Gorge?

Not Gara Gorge Tony but you are very close. I am at a particular location at the bottom of a walk in another gorge.

Wollomombi Gorge ?

Eggs, yes Dangars Gorge is the general location which has a number of features. I was hoping for the name of this spot?

Dangar Gorge, Armidale, was my next guess, had to do some work.

I will try the Blue Hole Dangar Gorge, Armidale,
Wed 16 Mar, 2011 2:04 pm
The DECC site shows Blue Hole in the Gara Gorge?
Wed 16 Mar, 2011 2:05 pm
Not Wollomombi Lizzy.
Tony wrote:I will try the Blue Hole Dangar Gorge, Armidale
Sorry Tony, not Blue Hole but everyone was starting to get close.

That's it eggs. I am at Salisbury Waters in Oxley Wild Rivers National Park. It's the destination of the walk of the same name that commences near Dangars Falls. It is mostly an easy track but eventually you need to descend about 500m down into the gorge over a short distance, making for a fairly strenuous climb out. Spectacular country around there. Your go...

Wed 16 Mar, 2011 2:43 pm
Not St Marys
The Flinders Ranges are a very long range. This is further north.

Mount McKinlay Bluff and summit, Gammon Ranges, South Australia from the north

As with many things these days - the park has 2 names now - also called Vulkathunha.
This was sunrise over Mt McKinley from Steadman's Ridge [Did you notice it in my trip report?]

I wanted to post a photo from the ACT but I do not have it with me, so I am going back to NSW.
Name the range that I am standing on, if you can name the trig I am on and the two ranges in the distance.

This might take too long so I am going to give a clue or two (or three), it is in the jagungal Wilderness area and the camera is ponting east.

This is a tough one, I haven't been to this spot (I think) and we have to start somewhere. Are you on Grey Mare Mountain on the Grey Mare Range looking towards the Brassy Mountains and the Kerries?

Hi John,
You are close, this will give it away, I am further west, Greymare Range is one of the ranges in the photo.
