Anywhere near Pope's Glen? out of Govett's Leap...

In hindsight this was a fairly difficult one unless you'd been there. Michael_p is close with Mt Hay area. It actually is Mt Hay viewed from next to the butte called
Venus Tor near
Boorong Crags in the Grose Valley.
Lizzy was next closest with Mt Stead, which is in the same general area, and juju was still not too many kms away with Popes Glen. Michael your go...

Thanks John.
Thought I could make out Lockleys in the background so I had a stab. Those Tors around My Hay look quite interesting, another spot I would like to explore one day.
Easy one. Name the mountain in the background.
Location: NSW.

- Mt Jellore. Taken from Rocky Waterholes Creek Lookout, Nattai NP.

This one shouldn't be too hard.
It's in South Australia.

Looks very similar but I am looking east and you must be looking west.
All I need is the name of the water and the name for the land.
Sun 20 Mar, 2011 6:47 pm
What's the name of the plain?
What's the name of the ocean or .......?
Sun 20 Mar, 2011 8:14 pm
ummm...Nullarbor Plain
Sun 20 Mar, 2011 8:17 pm
Great Australian Bight....

I rather think stoneycreek has it - just didn't say, but a picture is worth a thousand words.

Yes, Juju, it's where The Nullarbor Plain meets The Great Australian Bight.
Sorry for not responding sooner - just watching 127 Hours. A good reason not to go solo walking.

I wonder what the statistics would show on accidents on bushwalking - solo vs in company. I tend to be a lot more attentive when walking alone.
Great film, amazing guy.
and I think stoneycreek should win.

Although I think stoneycreek should go, it appears she? isn't about, so to keep the game going here's what I hope is an easy one - the view from a well known NSW lighthouse. Can you name the lighthouse and the island in the distance?

Didn't think that'd ever happen!

Some years ago I ambled up Mt Wudinna.
I think that could be where this is.

Yep, looking roughly SE I think. It was pretty green last time I was there. The time before it was as dry as a bone.

Another one from SA
Its a wide panorama - so click on it for more detail.
The question is where am I? - the location as indicated by the foreground has a name.

- Gibber Plain in the Gammons - looking to McKinley Bluff (Red Hill in front), Cleft Peak and Mt John Roberts

Sturt Stony Desert?
Mon 21 Mar, 2011 7:52 pm
Not Sturts Stony Desert - but that is the right idea on how to get the name of this place.
Maelgwn is closest - but Red Hill is actually in the photo in front of the left peak.
You have 2 out of 3 correct - with a slight correction to the first.
The top of McKinley cannot actually be seen from here - the rock face on the left is Mckinley Bluff
so where am I?

Gibber Plain?
Is it a named peak/ridge?
