Just because all the trees are bent one way doesnt mean the wind will only come from one way, and when it doesnt it come from the expected direction it wont be gentle breeze.

Some more
1. Mother nature is never consulted when maps are published.
2. When rock hopping in full pack always double you estimated walking time.
3. Water crossings are always deeper that they appear.

Sometimes the Guy you thought couldn't navigate is actually right. Conversly just because someone is holding a map dont trust them.

When looking at a map and compass, and the words "That can't possibly be north!" escape your mouth, you should have said nothing.
(ie, like last Saturday - thankfully we checked BEFORE getting too far from our intended route.

Seems to me the one guy holding out against the majority view is nearly always correct. Ignore this guy at your peril!

Never argue with 5 blokes who are using GPS especially if they are "bigger and younger" even when you know you are right with your navigation because you are the only one who has been there b4

Why they're called the Beggary Bumps. They're so hard on your clothing and gear you look like a beggar when you come out the other end and by the time you've paid for knees and shoulders to be reconstructed you're reduced to genuine beggary.

My main issue is the left knee. It survived the walking, and then crumpled under me climbing the one flight of stairs from the ferry garage to the reception desk . . .

It doesn't matter if the rock Col just stood on didn't move, It WILL move, roll ,sink, turn to ice or possibly all of the above the second I put my foot on it and yes I WILL sudddenly find my left leg submerged in a river
