Camping for Hartz Mountain day walks?

Hi,
Can anyone suggest suitable camping spots that are in/near Hartz Mountains. We would like to explore some of this area during the Easter break. Any suggestions re: camping or walking in this area would be appreciated.

or Cockle Creek is beautiful if a bit far away.....

All or most walks leave from the one spot - Hartz Peak is must do if the skies are clear, otherwise the lakes and tarns are nice.

If camping at Esperance River Duckhole Lake is a nice short walk. Adamsons Peak for a full day walk in good weather
If you travel to Cockle Creek, South Cape Bay is a must. Sth Cape Rivulet is even better.

Love Hartz Peak...great Tassie alpine walk!

I have stayed at the Esperence River camp ground. Not a bad spot, although we had some drugged out freaks hooning someones car about 2am all around our tent, pointing their high beams at the tent reving the engine and screaming etc. I'm sure this is not an everyday occurance though! You could stay at the Tahune Airwalk. Not sure how good the camping ground is there though? As far as walks go I agree with above and recommend:

1. Hartz Peak and surrounds (Plenty of off track places to explore here being sensitive to alpine vegitation of course)
2. Adamsons Peak (Hard day walk. Agree with above in that this is a fine weather walk)
3. Tree top walk and suspension bridge circuit at Tahune
4. South Cape Rivulet (Great spot for an overnighter)

Esperence River is nice, but Arve River is the place to camp for Hartz Mtns. It's 500m before you turn off the sealed Tahune Rd onto the gravel road up to Hartz Mtns

Why not camp up on the range?? Camp at Hartz Lake, or along the Plateau, or on the Devils Backbone??

yeees, BUT..., if your going to camp somewhere for a walk.. why not camp at the LOCATION of the walk???

Beats camping at one of the FT supplied locations mentioned by everyone else surely??

Errr, I know of one person at least who has overnighted one or twice at the Waratah picnic shelter . . . not that you're really supposed to, although there aren't any signs there saying 'no camping' . . .

Thanks for all your replies. I don't know the Hartz Mt area at all and was under the impression that there was no camping available in the national park and therefore we would be limited to day walks - similar to the camping restrictions at Cradle Mt.
I'm happy to carry our gear in and camp if there are suitable places available - just wanting a night or two away with some walking in an area we haven't explored yet and this sounded like a good one. We are experienced day walkers but have only put in a couple of overnighters - Lee's Paddocks and WOJ.
So... keep those suggestions coming!

I'm not 100% sure.... but I wasn't aware of any camping restrictions there...apart from open fires etc...?

I've wandered in there late in the afternoon and camped at Emily Tarn. (I wanted to get some photos of the full moon rising over the tarn, but a. there was a misty light rain all night and b. I left the memory card for my camera at home that night. Oh well...) If you do that, you can spend the next day climbing Mt Snowy and Hartz Peak, wandering down to Hartz Lake, and just generally exploring before heading out. the dawn light hitting Hartz Peak can be pretty speccy too.
