Hello All
I have noticed for the past couple of months that Google Earth is no longer as clear as it once was. This is particularly true of the Walls and Central Plateau area. Has anyone else noticed this, and is a known reason for it?
Thanks
Tony Robinson

Hi, I've also been fretting about Earths quality but I feel that the area in question is as sharp if not sharper recently, but not as clear or light. I thought that is was my monitor playing up. I get over this problem of darkness by picking up the screen picture and opening it in my photo editing program. There it is lightened easily and is of quite good enough standard to print out for any intended trips.

Gday Tony, I don't really use it that much but recently when doing some researching for Schnells Ridge I had a look at googlemaps and to me it seems to have gone to the next level of detail, you can see the tracks and all quite easily! maybe its just for certain areas though.

There is a change of imagery at the eastern side of lake Meston. To the east is Digital Globe at 1 pixel = 60cms and the the west is CNES at 1 pixel = about 2.5 metres. That may be what you are noticing.

Got to say that I am very impressed with the image upgrades in Google Earth.
The Tasman Peninsula was a blocky joke not very long ago, now it is matches in with the majority of the state. Walking tracks are even there now. Was just checking out the area around Stacks Bluff and the imagery there is so clear now. Another major upograde that interested me was the Tyndalls on the West Coast, it is all so much better now too.
Thanks google, just makes we want to go there even more
