I am planning to do the Overland Track with a friend from the 7th to the 19th.
We have a 4 season tent, I have a pair of MSR lightnings and he is loaning a pair of Yowies.
We are leaving lot's of time to do it in case we get whited out and have an EPIRB and GPS.
Is there anything else I am missing?

lol... your a funny bugga... lol
Hi icefest, if your leaving from the north, the snows shoes can probably be left behind if there isnt a lot laying or immediately forecast and if, as you say, you have extra days.

Where do you find a long range forecast? I cannot find anything longer than a week, let alone over a month.
I have a marmot Sawtooth rated to -9°C
And a therm-a-rest mattress.
I am planning on 700-1000g of consumables per day (food + Shellite)
My friend has similar.

You'll be fine then!!
Look there are sites that have forecasters for over a week long, but they are rarely accurate. I'd pay no attention to them whatsoever!! The weather down here changes so much, usually a 4 day forecast changes drastically by the time it get to 24 hrs off.

Crikey yes, i said the immediate forecast not a week or a month. For the purposes of what your talking about, not being stuck in heavy snow (and with in mind Exactly what i said above), I have found the general forecast to be useful, especialy up here in the north west (hmmm it may be easier and safer to stick with passing on the general advice). We are talking about just getting to Waterfall Valley without heavy snow, Once your over the plateau, your extra days should cover the rest.

(I did have in mind that you would have somewhere (car) or someone to leave the snowshoes with at the start (if that's caused confusion?))
nice bag the sawtooth (did you buy it from here/ebay au?

), even so most people would be feeling the cold at -4/5 in it (but then it is rarely -9). A down jacket would be a good backup?
