Happiest day of my life... Except for when Harry Potter 7 came out...

At the risk of starting a stampede the Map Shop in Elizabeth Street has copies as of this afternoon..
I just picked up mine.

I happened to be passing by as they were delivered to The Map Centre, at first I thought it was a sexied up version of V1, but then I realised my wildest fantasies had come true. It was like the Hajj; a spiritual, emotional and physical awakening.

Looking forward to my spiritual re-awakening tomorrow; i'm obviously not Robinson Crusoe in waiting like a kid at Xmas for my copy

Three ha, she told me one, but looked a little rattled and was on the phone ordering more when I got in there. This site has a lot to answer for.....

40 mins is a long time, many books can be sold in that time - and the fellow I spoke to had already placed an order for the 25 I mentioned - maybe she didn't know. I thought about warning him of the impending rush.....

Having had a chat with Bill about the website, he is happy for me to put this live.
Simply use the contact form expressing your interest and he will contact you.
The Abels website link.
Just a basic site with a brief description of the books, and a contact page.
It will be updated as needed, and as information becomes available.I can also advise that the book will be widely available, imminently. And that Bill is very, very happy with the book and it makes the first book look amateurish in comparison. Can't wait to get mine!

Got a couple of copies from Book City, who have a 10% discount going on book purchases!!!! Wonder how long that will last as the copies disappear.

What is that 'Supplement' mentioned on that webpage?
Tue 21 Jun, 2011 7:45 pm
Its a little soft cover book/notebook produced which is more a book of lists and diagrams of the mountains. It is excellent for finding peaks youv'e missed or planning groups of mountains to climb. It lists maps needed and has notes space for the owner to write in their dates of climbs and such. Lots of photos also. Honestly, the maps in it, like in V1, are useless, but good guides as a rough idea of peaks in a vicinity only.
Retails for about $16 I think, and I know the Map Center in Hobart had copies as of today. You see it in lots of other second hand bookshops in brand new condition also.

Ta. I might pick up a copy next time I'm down there.
Wed 22 Jun, 2011 5:20 am
Yes i've got one, it's a checklist, you enter the date you climbed the peak. It's a nice little sidebook.

We will have another 15 direct from the book binder this afternoon for those up north,
cheers,
Ian

MJD, you need to write a book to cover your High Places list. If you start now...

Which peak is this you're describing TT?
It's such a great book & a vast improvement on Vol. 1 (which needs a re-release IMHO).

Yes we looked at a route into there recently, the trip didnt go ahead due to weather. The route we were looking at was the one he describes as "diabolical"

Got mine today, lots of pretty pictures and more 2+ page descriptions. Book city still has 5 or 6 at $36 for anyone that was wondering. Well worth the money.
This is a quality piece of literature that all tasmanians should have on their shelves. Attractive book too.
