Mt Othrys

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone had attempted Mt Othrys from the Lake St Clair side? I know the traditional way up is from the Cuvier Valley track, but I wondered if it was possible to go up the other side en route to Echo Point. I have a day to get to Echo Point where I will be meeting some others to tackle Olympus the following day, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to climb Othrys. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Stu went up Curvy, back down to Echo point. He said the forest on the Echo side is very messy. Slow with lots of fallen trees. He suggests going in and out via Curvy.

Still, how bad can it be.....

I reckon I'll give it a go - I have a whole day. Distance wise it doesn't look too far, just steep.

If you have a full day youll probably be fine Jared.
Yes, it was a bit of a mess of fallen trees, not as clean as going up to Lake Oenone for instance.
Ask Amanda next time you see her, she was with me on that one.
If you have a full day why not save yourself the ferry fee and walk the Cuvier track, do Othrys and ascend Olympus from the west side, which is apparently easier anyway, meet you friend at Lake Oenon.

I had considered this as an option, but being the first day out of 10, I'd rather not haul a pack up Olympus when I didn't have to. The other guys are walking to EP at night, so to avoid any mishap its probably best to meet them there.
