Warm down sweaters/jumpers

After many many years I need to replace my J&H Dumper and I have been unable to find anything on the market that offers the same warmth to packed volume ratio.
I need somehin I can compress right down so that it will stuff into my bumbag for ski-touring.

I had an XXL Dumper that would layer over my other stuff just in case I got benighted.

I tried on a Western Mountaineering at Paddys last week and they are cut too small, any sugestions other than a Patagonia DAS parka which is now on my shortlist although not actually very warm for the packed bulk.

One Planet are resisting calls to bring back the Dumper; wish they were not as it suited my needs perfectly

Hey Moondog. I was going to suggest Montbell as I have an extra light down jacket which compresses to grapefruit size and is good around camp layered to low minuses. However MB sizing runs small... you could check out Westcomb, PHD and Feathered Friends. I don't believe anyone stocks these in oz so you could be dice rolling for the fit.

Great to see J&H still kicking ! My first ever down bag was a Bushlite and it still does service as a loan bag.

Just FYI, PHD will do custom sizing for you. Cost is 10% additional.

Been talking to PeterH, cost is prohibitive at the moment because he won't vacuum pack for shipping but I am thinking about one from PHD; also possible is Nunatak but if possible I would have preferred to buy somet,hing from an Australian company even if everything is made in China or Vietnam these days.
If I wasn't worried about packed bulk almost anything would do

I can recommend Nunatak gear, build quality is top notch and Tom will help you out with anything you ask him. Definitely one of the better business' i have dealt with, and fit wont be a problem as it is custom

I got a Yukon from PHD last year - I don't recall the actual postage cost but it certainly wasn't prohibitive - the Yukon was on sale but total cost inc postage was only $2 more than a lighter montane jacket (also on reduced price) picked up instore. The Yukon was packed into a stuff sack but not to its smallest possible size. I'll have a look tonight for invoices etc if you wish. The jacket arrived in great shape.

Agreed re prohibitive, but I checked the invoice and the postage for the jacket was more than I expected - 25.55 pounds. Then that was less than the VAT deducted from the quoted price - 29.65. So all up, 4pounds cheaper than quoted price and express delivery to my door. - wait for online sales maybe ?
