Gadyan Track

Starting from the car park at the end of Shirley Road, Wollstonecraft, this walk takes you on a circuit in Berry Island Reserve. Enjoy a short walk around the island while you are learning about the Aboriginal lifestyle and the importance of the reserve for Aboriginal People. The area was host to plenty of fish and shellfish, which provided food for them, along with the sandstone shelters that were useful for harsh weather conditions. Additionally, the lookout offers you open views of Greenwich to the west, Waverton and Balls Head Reserve to the east, and Barangaroo Reserve to the south. There is also a section to have a dip and a BBQ along with other amenities. The walk is pretty flat with small steep sections. Let us begin by acknowledging the Cammeraygal people, Traditional Custodians of the land on which we travel today, and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.

Getting started
From the end of Shirley Road, pass by the green singular bollard and head towards the flat rocks that mark the Y intersection. Keep left as you come to the said rocks and head along the dirt narrow track gently uphill to continue along the Gadyan Track (clockwise).....

	Turn left, to head along The Gadyan Track. After another 60 m pass the sign (on your right). After another 135 m pass the sign (on your right). Continue straight, to head along The Gadyan Track.
	The starting point of an optional sidetrip. This little side trip takes you to the sandy eastern foreshore. Involves steps. To start this optional side trip turn left here. On returning from this side trip turn left when you get back to this intersection. Details below. After another 25 m continue straight, to head along The Gadyan Track.
	The starting point of an optional sidetrip. This tiny side trip takes you to a viewpoint where you can enjoy the uninterrupted southerly views over Parramatta River. To start this optional side trip continue straight here. On returning from this side trip turn left when you get back to this intersection. Details below. After another 140 m turn right, to head along The Gadyan Track. After another 285 m pass the sign. Then pass a seat (on your right). After another 170 m pass the playground (on your left). After another 25 m continue straight, to head along The Gadyan Track.
	Continue another 50 m to find at the intersection of Shirley Road & The Gadyan Track at the end.

This tiny side trip takes you to a viewpoint where you can enjoy the uninterrupted southerly views over Parramatta River.
