Getting started
From the intersection, this walk follows the Founders Way service trail, heading away from the road and past a picnic seat, continuing along to the 'T' intersection with the pipeline track.....

	After another 70 m turn left, to head along Pipeline track.
	After another 115 m continue straight, to head along Pipeline track.
	After another 45 m (at the intersection of Pipeline track & Bungaroo Track) veer left, to head along Bungaroo Track (a walking track).
	The starting point of an optional sidetrip. An optional side trip to Int of Gov. Phillip and Bungaroo tracks. To start this optional side trip turn left here. On returning from this side trip turn right when you get back to this intersection. Details below. After another 1.3 km turn sharp right. After another 490 m find the "Pipeline" (on your right). Pipeline This pipeline is unearthed at Hunter Street, St Ives, and travels through Garigal National Park, across Middle Harbour Creek to John Oxley Drive, Sorlie. The pipe carries water under pressure From Ryde to Pymble to the reservoir at Beacon Hill. The old smaller-capacity pipe can still be seen running parallel to the larger pipe.
	Turn sharp right, to head along Pipeline track. After another 470 m continue straight, to head along Pipeline track.
	After another 800 m (at the intersection of Pipeline track & Bungaroo Track) continue straight, to head along Pipeline track.
	After another 45 m continue straight, to head along Pipeline track.
	After another 115 m turn right.
	After another 70 m come to the end.

An optional side trip to Int of Gov. Phillip and Bungaroo tracks.

Bungaroo Governor Arthur Phillip (first governor of NSW) described this section of the river as where "the flowing of the tide ceased". Phillip and his party of nine camped here in 1788 whilst looking for land suitable for farming. John White (Surgeon General) described the the area as "the most desert, wild and solitary seclusion that the imagination can form any idea of". Over the past 200 years the river has changed, but somewhere not far upstream of the stepping stone is Bungaroo. Turn around and retrace your steps back the 230 m to the main route.

Phillip and his party of nine camped here in 1788 whilst looking for land suitable for farming. John White (Surgeon General) described the the area as "the most desert, wild and solitary seclusion that the imagination can form any idea of". Over the past 200 years the river has changed, but somewhere not far upstream of the stepping stone is Bungaroo.

Turn around and retrace your steps back the 230 m to the main route.

  Closed areas: Magazine track closed for hazard reduction burning
  Magazine track is closed for hazard reduction burning from Wednesday 23 to Friday 25 October 2024. The closed areas are:
  
  Magazine track between the end of Killarney Drive to the Tipperary Avenue track intersection.
  
  Flat Rock Beach
  
  Penalties apply for non-compliance. This burn is called NPWS Bantry Bay HR. For more information, contact the local NPWS office or visit the Rural Fire Service website.
  
  Other planned events: ‘1080 pest management’
  NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service will be conducting a baiting program using manufactured baits, fresh baits and Canid Pest Ejectors (CPEs) containing 1080 poison (sodium fluroacetate) for the control of foxes. The program is continuous and ongoing between 1 August 2024 and 31 January 2025 in Garigal National Park. Don’t touch baits or ejector devices. Penalties apply for non-compliance.
  
  All baiting locations are identifiable by signs.
  Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.
  Fox baiting in these reserves is aimed at reducing their impact on threatened species.

  Closed areas: Flat Rock track partial closure
  The section of Flat Rock track from the Killarney Drive entrance to the Downpatrick Street entrance, is permanently closed as the old track passes through private property near Killarney Point.
  Please note:
  
  Walkers heading west should exit Flat Rock track at the eastern end of Killarney Drive and use Killarney Drive until you reach Downpatrick Street. Then walk down the street and re-enter Flat Rock track from the Downpatrick Street fire trail.
  
  Walkers heading east should exit Flat Rock track at the Downpatrick Street fire trail and use Downpatrick Street, then Killarney Drive until you reach the end of Killarney Drive. Re-enter Flat Rock track from the Killarney Drive entrance.
