Only a lousy kilometre and I am shattered. But the best training for sled hauling is hauling so I'll stick with it until the snow falls.
I'm hoping that by the end of the month it will be two tyres and more than a couple of trips around the block

Great work MD.

If I were your neighbour I’d be sitting on my front porch cheering you on.

A much more effective method is to train with the actual sled, loaded as intended, across both wet and dry sand e.g. at Eastern Beach in Geelong, or Rippleside, both nearby you if you are in Norlane. Granted, the trails are groomed at Falls, but beyond there — ? Much, much more, heavier training.

While true the sled would wear out much too fast. I need it to last at last another while season or two

How about the sled, loaded, on (wet) grass at the local park?

Pulling a tyre (or tyres) is a proven and effective form of strength training. Simple, minimal prep, ready availability of tyre(s) in various sizes, and doable almost anywhere.

No extra bits, simulation, or special venue needed.

Why complicate things for zero benefit ?

I agree, your body doesn't know what you're pulling, only your mind does.

Keep it up MD, no slacking.
