OK having just bought myself some new underwear for next winter ( sale at Patagonia for the silk weight top $ 65-and sale at Rays for the grid fleece top and pants $7.50 each ) I am seriously thinking of abandoning fleece jumpers for next winter and try Andy Kirkpatricks layering system.
My system would use the silk weight for most use, the grid-fleece if really cold, a pull-on pile vest ( I still have my Katmandu paddle tops from when they made reasonable gear ) and the Nanopuff as both insulation and wind stopper.
Has any-one here actually used the Nanopuff as a ski touring garment yet??
Talking to staff at Patagonia in Torquay they seem to be bought mainly by the summer surfing crowd but trying it on last week during the cold spell it was both warmer and lighter than my normal Polartec100 jumper and reasonably windproof as well.
I is a very slim fit however and no way could I use it as a warm jacket/jumper over my heavy fleece, so it seems one system or the other.
Opinions? Comments?? critique of the system???
