I thought about its use on water. But even in open water, there'll still be reefs dotted around. Progress, not regress... Map is there for a good reason. Being able to quickly answer the simple question "Am I roughly heading in the right direction and how far" with a big easy to read graphic without needing to stop and decipher a tiny topo map screen is an advantage.
