Up for a challenge, how experienced are you?? How far you willing to travel, I notice your based up north, so that limits the REALLY challenging good walks...... :P
BUT in the reserve there are some classics. The Ducane traverse is one of the best walks going.
Pelion circuit, Traveller range. All brilliant offtrack walks.
Nothing to see here.

Western Arthurs.... I think provided the weather is good, A-K would be a decent 5 day trip.

You could easily spend 4-5 days exploring the Frenchmans area, Mt Gell, Gould Plateau, just to name a few.

Thanks for the Ducanes lead (Pardon the pun)

This is looking like being on the short list for sure. The only hassle with living in Tassie and having a long TO DO list is that list seems to get LONGER !!
But I am looking forward to getting a few ticked off!

I give the thumbs up to Ducane traverse, did it the first time this year, it's a great walk. Goes in my top couple of walks. Maybe because I had the best weather you can have in Tassie, clear autumn days with the fagus in full colour.

Sounds like it Norts, but it's not just that. It's one of the most exciting and beautiful walks you can do in 3-5 days. Has it all!! Much like the Anne traverse.

In 5 days you could go out via the gould plateau for a full traverse of the du canes. I'm planning to do it in a very relaxed 7.

ILUVTAS,

You mention the Mount Anne circuit, this was one I was considering. How would Ducane & Mount anne compare?

Very similar, except Anne is tracked. Most of the Ducane walk is offtrack.
There is some easy/moderate scrambling on both walks, Both should probably only be done in good weather, more so the Ducanes as navigation would be difficult in mist.

The Anne circuit can be done in 2 days, but most people take 3 or even 4. Taking 2 or 3 days allows for quality time to have a good look around. Both walks are equally stunning, The Anne circuit would get 50 times more people through it though.
Nothing to see here.

Thanks for that,

Yeah I find Off track a more raw experience so to speak. More preparation would probably be needed, I gather it is tents only.
Is it generally done as a circuit or retrace? I suppose being untracked it could be made either.
