Sport Long Tights

I have just been reading about Skins Sport Long Tights. The information claims some amazing things e.g. lower lactic acid production and significantly reducing fatigue and muscle soreness.

I think these tights are similar to the ones worn by AFL players at training.

Anyone tried these? Pros and cons please?

My husband wears them when he rides his bike to work. He finds them very comfortable and says they do seem to slightly reduce muscle soreness - I am not sure if they do all the miracles claimed on the box though.

I am not sure if they would work with hiking though.....

Me too.
I did a bit more reading on them and for what it says they are supposed to do, I am sure they are great for things like riding bikes and running etc, but I still have my doubts about any great benefit when bushwalking.
You're of course welcome to give them a go and see if they are any good, though, make sure you let us all know.

Hi guys,
just thought i would try and shed a bit more light on the skins
the idea is that the compression caused by them stimulates extra circulation and also helps reduce fatigue by keeping the muscles from flapping around.
I have a pair that i got through work (outdoor shop) and i find them good, although maybe not as good as what they claim. In terms of performance enhancement, i have not found anything much, but i definately think that they do reduce muscle soreness afterwards.
In terms of bushwalking, i never walk in mine, but do wear them in the tent at night after a hard day to help with soreness.
as already touched on, i use them mainly for cycling and running, but if you are willing to spend the $$ then try them out.

what sort of $ are we talking for these? Purely speculative question as I have no interest in ever wearing them...but just wondering what someone pays for some sporty tight pants...the emo's should stop cutting themselves and get into cycling...they have the gear already. :twisted:

Just had a birthday and my daughters gave me the long tights and the long sleeve top, these ones are under the Skins label, not sure if there are other labels - hints do work!

Will provide a full report after next extended walk.

Report on Skins sports tights and top as promised!

I wore the tights each day for ten days on the Western Arthur traverse - thought this was a good test!

I was very impressed. I had no muscle soreness in the legs at all. Whilst my legs obviously tired they recovered quickly in camp. I think the firm support that they provided on my legs may have also helped my knees, which the physio says has too much sideways movement.

The top I am not so sure about. I did wear it on two of the ten days but couldn't identify any discernible difference to not wearing it. I stopped wearing it because the weather was quite warm and I preferred to wear the single layer of my sunsafe shirt - it allowed better air flow.

I wasn't game to wear either garment without an outer layer to protect the Skins from the ravages of the south west bush! They are expensive to buy but may be worth a try! I will definitely keep wearing the legs for walking and probably use the top and legs when skiing.
