Hi all,
Just found a great little site with some interesting stuff.
For ages I've thought about buying some merino arm warmers that way I can make my merino tshirt flexible (without carrying a merino l/s top as well). Good for overnighters where I don't want to carry the world. They also stock possum socks which are something I've wanted for ages.

hey Mic! Love possum socks- my mother-in-law bought me some in NZ and they are great- excellent for blister prevention. Wore tehm on recent Tassie trip and were great even when wet. Swapped to a different type & could feel rubbing- so back to possums

I looked at some NZ possum socks and then put them back as I was a bit dubious about their lasting (wear) quality. That was from absoulutely no experience of them and some rather bad experiences with other socks suggested by a leading gear shop.
Any comments on their longevity is appreciated.
I have NZ possum gloves that I use when its cold for work as they are extremely warm and light and thin enough to use instruments with. So I can recommend their warmth, softness and comfort albeit from a glove perspective.
The Possum Boot Socks look good.

Hi Mic,
The arm warmers are a great idea too .. didn't know you could get them in merino. I've used my cycling arm warmers in the past, for the same purpose, very easy to just remove them when the temperature warms up.

While I haven't really walked in them much, I've got about 5 pairs of the standard "Mongrel Socks" and love them. However, they do have a tendency to rip along the seam where the top section meets the foot above the heel if you're not careful putting them on - I've destroyed 3 pairs and know several other people that have had the same issue. Hint - they are cheaper if you buy direct from Salamanca Market - $20 vs $25 in their online store.
Haven't tried the possum version but they will almost certainly be my next sock purchase!
