Is that US sizing? If not then it sounds like they squeezed you into the wrong boot. I would think it fair that they either found a boot that does fit (without needing to go up a size ) or refer you to someone else who Can help... that would be fair, wouldnt it?

You guys that find boots fit them well are lucky. I can't find a pair that fits me well. I just don't think there is one out there that will ever fit my foot. I've tried hard finding a pair. The Scarpa SL when I tried them in store, felt like a torture instrument to me.

It took me 50 years and I don't know how much footwear to find a pair of boots that fit. I won't even bother looking at anything else now I know about Asolo.
And yeah, I agree about Scarpas. Hideous. My feet were screaming.

Yes, US size. You should have seen the Size 13 they had for me. I looked like bigfoot. strangers commenting, and getting lots of strange looks at me, particularly when I went up town to pick up some take away food, one guy in the store, just stared at my boots. When my brother saw them, he said you got to be kidding.

I never found anyone that could find a boot that would fit me. I've tried and given plenty of stores the opportunity, but they all failed.
I think when I head down to Tasmania to walk the Overland Track I will get myself a pair of shoes.

Hey guys just my view on breaking in boots, when i got my zamberlan civettas i was really worried it would take me 200 + kms to break in i looked around for the best methods soaking the leather then walking in the boots ruins the look of the leather/ material and promotes degradation the best method is to put them inside a sleeping bag etc to warm the leather slightly then walk them in. HOWEVER any good boot eg my zambos DIDNT NEED ANY breaking in these boots are used by the Australian SAS (arguably one of the most elite fighting groups worldwide), im only 14, under 6' and only 57 kgs. STEP 1- buy a good pair of socks Step 2- there isnt one, the only reason people get blisters etc is because of poorly fitted shoes or rubbing with the foot, get a good quality set of merino socks (and even a sock liner if youre game) and theres no need to break em in!

Well, they arrived!

I went for a stumble over near Lake St Clair the other week. Of course Mt. Rufus was covered in snow, thigh deep it turns out. I decided not to fill them with hot water, as some suggested, before I left. The snow worked its was into the the boots anyways and make them nice and supple.

There were a few initial pains but I soon worked them out by trying out some different lacing techniques which loosened the pressure on specific parts of my feet.

Overall they have come up really nicely. Those enormous red stompers. Felt like I was carrying two blocks of concrete by the end of the day. I have some idea of what people say about them only fitting some shapes of feet.

Perhaps like any good, solid gear, they need a bit of working and perseverance.

the Zamberlan boots I own now which was replaced, are size 12, MD told me there the right fit for me, But I don't think they know Sh##, to be honest.

Did they mention Zamberlan 'H' sizes? When I asked at MD's they explained it was a half size ie 10H=10.5. It doesnt mean that at all.....

Perhaps ask them to do another exchange for you (when they work out what that confusing 'H' does mean)

Failing that, if you can find someone who stocks Meindl they might be worth a look. They have very wide options, probably a bigger reputation than either Zamberlan or Scarpa (where they're from). I havent used them myself...

No exactly sure if it is a standard width measurement but RM Williams use it. G means narrow while H means standard. Australians from UK stock tend to need H front and G heel. RM Williams will make mixed fittings to custom order, or use to. Great if you like dress boots but not so useful for bushwalking ones Scarpa tend to widen the front but no so much the heel which is one reason why I can wear the BXX SL. Not to say a wider front would not be appreciated.

I'm another who loves my SLs and will wear them straight out of the box. Never had a blister.
Funny thing though - I can't wear Scarpa rock shoes at all, they are WAY too narrow for me.
