Outdoor research neoplume jacket

Hi everyone

I am looking at purchasing an insulated jacket to replace my fleece jacket. I have read many post on the mont bell UL thermawrap but was wondering if anyone has any experience with the outdoor research neoplume jacket. Looked similar to the thermawrap slightly heavier but thicker? 15denier vs 60denier

Looking to carry it in my 20l backpack for bush walking on cooler months and camping

Not immediately useful to your question, but....

My mate bought a thermawrap for our recent trip in NZ. He was wrapped(!!). His appeared warmer. I had an ex light down for same trip. It is warm, but I think my BMW cocoon parka was warmer last trip, but obviously twice the weight , but both together are miles lighter than FP. Together great for ski touring in Oz. I'd use ex light for marginal warm camping and ex light plus BBW for marginal cold and cold weather camping, in both situations with light thermals .

Get a US mail forwarder. Plenty of companies offering the service just for this sort of thing.

Denier refers to the outside fabric used for the item only and not the insulation.

RE synthetic fill you want to look at gsm, ie the amount of insulation used.

There are also different weights in the Thermawrap line, which I prefer over OR for their design.

Thank you. I think I will get the montbell ul thermawrap. Could use it for both hiking and car camping. Now have to find a retailer on sale if possible

Mont Bell doesn't go on sale much and most retailers will not ship to Australia.

Your best bet is via the local distributors.

Thanks for all your responses. I tried the neoplume and it was quite light and comfortable priced at $180 at a retailer, cheapest I could get from NZ was $150 which was more my price point. I went past macpac and they were having a clearance on old stock and went in for a look. Tried their twilight down jacket and at $150 it was a bargain I believe so I ended up with one.
