Hi SOB
I have been uploading tracks and huts into OSM. The method for huts and toilets is it take waypoints of the corners and the ramps around the toilet and then align Bing maps. Also now using the averaging feature on the Garmin 62s and giving it a chance with clear view of the sky. Lake Mackenzie area is pretty much aligned using such techniques. Have a look if you like. In edit mode you can bring up the GPS coordinates.
As in Australia WAAS correction is not available so as Tastrax writes about 10 metres is practical accuracy but with averaging waypoints the precision can be much better than that. In fact so good in open areas to not walk off cliffs but in valleys the 10 metres is rather optimistic accuracy.
Happy to send through GPX tracks and waypoints if you require.
Cheers
