TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Scarp 2 and 2x Exped LW?

Postby Stibb » Sat 24 Nov, 2012 5:11 pm

Does 2 long/wide Exped UL mats fit nicely in a Scarp 2?

According to the specs it should be fine but I don't trust specs...
Anyone with first hand experience here?

Thanks Stepbystep...
Yes they will fit, the specs are pretty close to what you get and you have a bit of room to spare.
Those two long mats are 197x63cm , the floor is 218x132 with a minimum height of about 38cm.

From my limited experience with Tarp Tent, they are pretty good at providing accurate specs.
As Franco has indicated, they should fit fine.

Make sure you add the pole guylines to it , if you don't already have some get 2x6' from TT (under extras) you will also need a couple of extra pegs for that.
I can seam seal it for you for $25 .
(the longer than needed guylines can be handy when pegs are hard to insert so you can use branches/rocks or sand bags)

I already have the tent and I'm very happy with it too :)
Its' the 2 mats that are missing and it was really their measurements I wasn't trusting

Usually mats are slightly smaller than stated but since I do have 2 Expeds I took some measurements.
The older one is 175x50cm , the new one is 180x51, should be 183x52.
looking at some reviews , those sizes vary a bit either way but you should have enough room to accommodate some oversizing.

I find mats boring anyway, they send me to sleep.

Thanks Franco. I hope these mats will send us to sleep as well. Our old ones were too exciting...never slept on them for more than 15min straight and then they tended to take off, sliding in various directions and generally misbehaving

Hi Franco, If I purchase a Scarp 2 ( non-mesh inner) before this Friday would it be delivered (to the ACT) before Xmas? If so I have a Hubba Hubba v6 for sale (used twice).
Thanks Charlie.

Hi Charlie
yes sure , it is low season over there and Australia is only about 5% of the TT market so yes there is stock available.
BTW, I seam seal them for $25 US.
I don't have a 100% success rate but better than some.

I weighed mine.

Partial fabric inner, Seamsealed by moi (and tested 100%), extra pegs (groundhogs), 2 extra guys for side support through the top vents, Pack hangers to lift the pack off the ground supported on the pole, zpacks cuben solo groundsheet (77g): Total, in supplied stuffsac: 960g

It's a great little tent.

Hi Franco, I have ordered a Notch with partial solid inner + 2 groundsheets + the 2 guylines, but I couldn't find any info on seam sealing, only a tube of sealant for $5. As I tend to have a passionate relationship with silicon I would prefer that you do the seamsealing.I am thinking a money order or similar might be a good option for transfering the $25 (directly to you). Thanks Photo Hiker for the info on the "in use" weight. I went from a Micro Light (made in NZ: aprox 2100g) to a Hubba Hubba, but found the full mesh inner to cold. I liked the H-H design/ size so I bought a Hubba Hubba HP, but want something lighter for a long walk I am hoping to do.
Cheers

hi
This is the link to the seam sealing service :
http://www.tarptent.com/cgi-bin/surfsho ... itemid=204
it isn't on the site because it can't be always done.
Please use that link because I don't see every order .
I can always be contacted via franco@tarptent.com
(thanks for the order)
